Fanboys

I thought it was terrible. There are very few actual jokes in the movie. Its "humor" comes from just making random references to Star Wars and other pop culture items.

"I'm going to quote a line from Star Wars in this instance, and that means it's COMEDY GOLD! Do you see what I did there? I took a line from Star Wars and said it in response to a situation! I'm funny! Do you not see how funny I am?"

Nail, head.

I saw this in the theater and I wanted so bad to like it, to find it hilarious, to think it was worth the wait... but it wasn't any of those. The Trek parody wasn't even clever, Terminal Cancer Kid didn't even give the slightest indication of having said terminal cancer... whatever. It was a huge disappointment and boiled down to what JKTim said above.

The question I kept asking myself while watching FB was -- "Do Trek fans and Star Wars fans really dislike each other as they depict in this film?"

Honestly, I've never seen that kind of hostility -- or even disagreement really. Sure, there ARE people who prefer one over the other but I think the film really tried to blow it into something bigger than at least I have seen.

I'd be willing to bet a good number of Trek fans are Star Wars fans and vice versa. At least that's the case with me. I like them both.

I find Star Wars to be silly and childish at times but I don't hate it...or its fans.

I really wanted to like FB as well -- I was hoping it would be as good as Free Enterprise -- but it wasn't (IMHO).

Well most of that fighting was instigated by the fat asshole, wasn't it? And he was just obnoxious about everything.

 Yeah, that's true...but they kind also tried to imply in Free Enterprise that there was some kind of animousity between Wars and Trek fans...so...

I'm just not sure where all that comes from...

I have to say the build up (first half of the movie) was boring. The movie did not start becoming funny to me until they went to Ohio.

I went to see it with a couple of friends of mine who are Star Wars freaks. They loved it and we all loved the ST vs SW nerd fight.

It wasn't bad. I think most of the humor for me was the fact that I know that those sorts of people are out there.
