Certainly influenced by Iron Man and the Marvel Cinematic Universe... but still fun. What do you guys think?

Definitely well made. Not necessarily a movie I want to see made, but the trailer is done well.

I thought it was fantastic...and apparently they are in the development stages of a "Captain Planet" live action film. I see this as showing the potential of such a film. I was a big fan of the cartoon when I was a kid, so I wouldn't mind a movie at all.

I was something of a "fan" of the cartoon as well but it certainly hasn't aged well. At all. By the time, oh, 1994 came it was corny. ;)

But I'd be interested in seeing a movie, but it'd have to either be played serious and straight or played with tongue planted firmly in cheek.

That fan-trailer isn't too bad (though I'd say the regional accents are over done, and the character "intros" don't demonstrate the powers very well. Granted it'd be pretty damn hard to make "Heart" seem cool." Ma-Ti certainly got screwed in that deal.

And Captain Planet, the one superhero whose superhero weakness is the very thing he's charged himself to fight! It'd be like Superman's weakness being punched in the face.

But, cool fan trailer.

The biggest danger to the global enviroment is almost certainly global warming, not only from current consumption, but also (and most immediately) from already-spent fuels and pollutants. Humanity could disappear tomorrow and significant environmental changes would still occur as a result of this.

So what threat would the Planeteers face in a movie? Introducing a new, comic book-like threat would risk downplaying the aforementioned real dangers. The TV show was a parable for kids, which was fine, but unless they make a movie similarly aimed at little tykes (doubtful), such fables would almost certainly look incredibly silly to all over-14 audiences.

A parodic take a la 21 Jump Street *might* work... but this fan trailer plays the CP concept pretty much totally straight, and the result is suckage.

Really well made and kinda cool! Not sure about the Captain's look, but I wasn't sure about that when I was six years old either, so...;).

Amazing. That was hilariously awful. Nice production values, but that's about it. The editing was amateurish (especially the gaps in conversation) and the sustained shot of the lady drinking her glass of water was

.

I was thinking the same thing. Most of the major environmental threats we're facing are these big, global, but also 'invisible' problems, like climate change. It doesn't lend itself to the superhero vs supervillain format.

Wow, that was good for a laugh. Plunder Industries, Dr. Blight, Fan Film Acting, Captain Planet cropped T-shirt, a hard-drinking 26 year-old ginger. the power of heart!

These guys sure went all out in their quest to suck. My god, CP sucked when it was on TV and it sucks even harder in the imaginations of these film school rejects.

Thanks much for the link! :guffaw:
