Poll Fan Fiction Universe

Ok, there's some great discussion on the other thread about time periods, themes and ideas for a shared Star Trek fan fiction universe. As this is a group project and as such, will belong to all of us, it's only fitting that everyone gets a say in the era this gets set.

There's 5 days to take a vote and reach a general consensus. Hopefully we can!

First of.... I'm not a writer. I've tried several times and always give up. So maybe my vote shouldn't count.

But I love the idea of the TCW. Although ENT didn't make it work as well as it could, the concept is amazing. And there are some talented writers here who can really make it work.

I checked Enterprise-B, but I'm okay with Earth/Romulan War and Early Federation.

The general concept comes up every so often. Ultimately, I'm not so concerned about the time frame as the abilities of the story tellers to focus on compelling characters, solid drama and believable action.

That said, I chose the Earth/Romulan Wars because, of the choices presented, I feel that it can come closest to attaining a TOS feel.

Ok well since the Temporal Cold War won overall, how about doing another poll as a run off since two other time periods tied. Have just those two choices only. Both time periods could be a front in the Temporal Cold War.

I think a temporal cold war set in present day time would be fun. What if you had all these aliens coming to 2020 and trying to alter things. Not just on earth but also dealing with the alien governments out in space as well. We don't really know why the AQ looked like in 2020 centuries before humans would explore it.

I voted for the Enterprise B era but I still think you should go with a series set in the 2270s. So much untapped potential in that era. The end of the Romulan/Klingon alliance, first contact with the Breen, ...

I like what you've done, and to take that idea and run with it, other people can set up (much as you suggested) different time lines, and even if they appear to be completely separate for the most part, who's to say a temporal reference can't be slipped in?

I can probably put a timeline together for the Earth-Romulan War, but it might take a couple days to do it. The only real sources seems to be FASA and the novels to fill in the events that aren't canon. If anyone wants to go ahead and start on one, feel free. (I like what you've done with the Enterprise-B era timeline.)

This echoes my thinking. The Temporal Cold War allows for every suggestion mentioned to be written about, as long as there is some tie to the Temporal Cold War, and it doesn't to be a super obvious tie. Or could be at the end or beginning of the story and not the main body of it, if that.
