Famous person you have seen, met, or know personally

I've met Alice Cooper, and I've also met Ladmo. You had to be an Arizona kid sometime between the late 50's and the late 80's to know about Ladmo.

Oh and I'm like 5th cousins with Chris Cornell of Soundgarden/Audioslave. Never met him though.

I used to hang out studying in the smoking lounge at law school with Barack Obama. We were pretty friendly, but we didn't share classes because he was a year ahead of me. He would more likely remember my husband, because they both were heads of their organizations and participated in the Black Law Students Association. If we ever went to the White House, both POTUS and FLOTUS would remember my husband for sure (he was in the class between them), and I'm sure POTUS would be gracious enough to pretend to remember me.

I've had dinner several times with Mike Wolfe (of History Channel's American Pickers), in addition to working on his original pitch videos for the show. When I lived in eastern Iowa, we'd meet up every couple of months, though we see each other far less now that I live in Madison. Still try to hook up when we have a chance, though. Good man, good friend.

Is he the same as he appears on TV? I mean, he appears to be someone who is always pumped and ready for action.

He's exactly what he is on television: A big, enthusiastic goofy bastard who is a complete dork about history and old junk.

Someday, though, I'd like to meet the great NASA audio engineer Michael Cunningham.

I've met him; pictures don't do him justice. :D

Though he seems to be avoiding me with all of these "NASA Space Shuttle Launch Delays". We all know that he's faking those, like the moon landing.

:p

My mother met George W. Bush- he spoke at her Rotary club and sat at her table. She managed to be polite. :p She's a real scorching liberal.

I've never really met anyone famous, though I did get Andrew Robinson's autograph at a convention. The line was so rushed I didn't even get to thank him! When I was little, Nell Carter sang at my church. I don't remember much about that except she LOVED the dress my mom was wearing!

Sally Struthers is doing a show in my hometown right now- I'm going to a meet-and greet reception later this month, so I'll get to meet her. I loved watching All in the Family re-runs as a kid, so that will be kinda cool. ;)

Was he knowledgeable about the Algonquin and Milwaukee?

It's funny you say that actually, because on a completely separate occasion I met Pete Friesen, who is the guitarist that replies to him in that scene. I had a good chat with him, he was a nice bloke. Obviously I spoke to him about being in that scene too.

Oh, gosh, they film a lot of TV and movies in Baltimore, and more specifically, in my neighborhood, so I've seen many, many celebrities. And I worked on political campaigns for several years, so I've met most of our state congress critters, a couple of Mayors and a Governor or two. I wouldn't count any of them, though.

I've hung out in more extended terms to a handful of people, including off the top of my head, Johns Waters (kind of hard to avoid the guy, honestly), Andre Royo (Bubbles from The Wire, who used to hang out at my local bar), Wallace Shawn (Vicini from Princess Bride, who used to come into a restaurant where I worked in college), Allen Ginsburg (with whom I had a good chat after a reading in college), and Matt Porterfield (director of Hamilton and Putty Hill - I know you don't know who he is, but you should).

The only "celebrity" I would say I "know" is my cousin, who has been in a ton of things, currently Big Love. Most around here would recognize him primarily from his guest shots on Joss Whedon's various shows, I guess.

Ignoring all the ones at conventions:

- Christian Cullen: Former All Black (New Zealand rugby team); I was in the same class as him in school (ironically my wife was best friends when she was younger with Richie McCaw, the current All Black captain).

- Mark Strickson: Turlough from Doctor Who; Been friends for around five years, his son goes to the same daycare as my daughter, and I work with him in the tv industry.

Have also dealt with many people from Sir Peter Jackson's crowd as we all work in post-production.

YOUR COUSIN IS BILL PAXTON??!?!?!?

:p

I've heard he's a dick and if I ever meet him I want to punch him in the face.

My dad met JFK when he did a speech at Shasta Dam when it was opened.

Awesome :D I'm one of the few Non-American's that actually has an active interest in the US Presidency and JFK has always been an interesting character in my book.

Jacoby Shaddix, lead singer of Papa Roach, is my cousin and I have spent some holidays with him in the past.
Ahh the memories of being a teenager and digging the Nu Metal scene. Last Resort was an epic song, She Loves Me Not was pretty good too.

My sister got hit on by David Draiman at Oz Fest a few years ago.
Disturbed...they used to be good

I met Keir Dullea and Gary Lockwood(2001: A Space Odyssey and 2010: The Year We Make Contact)at the 2008 Wonderfest Science Fiction Convention in Louisville, Kentucky. Some friends of mine are in charge of the convention programming. They pulled some strings, and I got to hang out with both of them the entire convention weekend.

Definately one of the happiest days of my life. It was a blast haging out with these two remarkable gentlemen and speaking with them about the arts, sports, the medical industry, and other topics.
