Famous Last Words of Doctor Who

i look like someone who doesn't take Doctor Who seriously, who doesn't rant and rave and spit bile at every thing RTD has done, someone who actually enjoys the show old and new, and who tries to have civil conversations on an internet forum.

you, on the other hand, look like the complete opposite.

i'll now go back to ignoring your hate-filled screeds.

I don't mind you liking the show any more than I mind your lack of punctuation. I do mind you making false accusations because you can't cope with the idea of a disagreement on a TV show without personalities being involved. I know you're clearly very young, but it's no way to act.

Very, very well put :techman:

I've never denied anyone their opinion. Criticise me if you will, but I do wish one of you would come up with something legitimate. Or maybe come up with a new line rather than chirping out "pot kettle black" like it's the only phrase you've ever been able to commit to memory.

Jeez Bones, give it a rest. You know you troll. It's no secret to anyone, and no one is ever surprised. It's all you do, buddy. So, drop the whole "honorably wounded" pretense. It has become your personal tired cliche. If you're going to be negative, others will be negative towards you. It's that plainly simple. And you know it, you just love pissing about is all. I think it's the attention you crave, but I'm not certain...

Well, it's all tied up in that bit "If you're going to be negative, others will be negative towards you.". Again, others don't seem to be able to appreciate the difference between disagreeing about Doctor Who and disagreeing on a personal level. It's sad, really, that people are so hurt by the idea of someone disagreeing with them that they feel the need to lie about, direct insults at, and make false accusations towards that person. Trolling would be me purely trying to provoke other people into a reaction, whereas I'm actually only interested in discussing Doctor Who. It's getting pretty tedious having to restate the fucking obvious this way. Maybe some people can't learn.

^ I don't think it's necessarily your sentiments, but the way you express them. With the profanity and the insults, there seems to be real rage boiling beneath the surface. Now, if we were sitting around talking about this, and we could see you grinning sardonically while you were invoking doom on RTD, people would probably have a different reaction.

With the insults and the extreme language, it seems like you're saying anyone who liked [some aspect of RTD-era Who] is a prancing tit or a f**** moron. So yeah, people will get their backs up.

For better or for worse, all we have to go by is the words on the screen, devoid of any context or nuance.

Mmm, I ought to cut down on the swearing. I never used to bother, but it got a bit fashionable in these parts. As for the rest though, I'm expressing my opinion as anyone else does. Calling a fictional character a prancing tit isn't the same as calling someone here that, and calling RTD an incompetent hack is legitimate criticism. I've not made any personal attacks against people here, and it's getting tedious having to point the difference out to people who think it's fair to make false accusations because someone doesn't like the episodes they do. If someone would like to point out some actual and specific wrongdoing, I'd be much obliged.

remember when this thread was actually about something? perhaps its just time to drop the argument entirely.

I'm shocked at the light moderation in this sub-form. Usually TBBS is run with an iron fist.

Uh huh. The man who single-handedly revived a dead franchise into a powerhouse is an incompetent hack. His writing may not be to your, ahem, taste but there is no denying that RTD knows what he's doing.

As for my earlier comment that Ten's last words seemed the most honest, it was because that entire episode focused on the lie of the regeneration. Just because Time Lords regenerate doesn't mean that they don't die. A new body and a new personality is a new man, full stop. Ten was just the first to realize that he wasn't going to live on. I personally believe that it was his rage against the inevitable that caused the destruction of the TARDIS.
