Fallout: New Vegas

I figure in a real nuke war Las Vegas wont be high on the target list.
I wouldn't be so sure about that. Creech Air Force Base and Nellis Air Force Base are both major military installations and are very close to Las Vegas. Both would more than likely be targeted in any major nuclear strike.

I dare say that every military base in the entire country is currently targeted with nuclear weapons and would be attacked in the event of a full scale nuclear war.

Fallout New Vegas

I was leary when I first purchased Fallout 3, but I was definitely wrong about my initial misgivings. Fallout 3 has to be one of the best games I have had the pleasure of playing this year. Now I hear a new Fallout is on the horizon and I am excited about the propect. If you played Fallout 3, tell us what you thought about the game. Also, if you heard about Fallout New Vegas, tell us what you heard and if there is any news we might not be aware of. (Please, do not tell us the game has been delayed till 4th quarter 2011.)

Re: Fallout New Vegas

I think there's a thread for NV, but in a nutshell I'm mildly excited because Obsidian is home to the best WRPG writers in the industry at the moment. The problem of course is that they seem to take ages to finish projects and their engineering seems to be horrible (NWN2 only got good after MotB, and there's also the Alpha Protocol/Alien RPG fiasco). It's a mixed bag.

At this point, I'd want Bethesda or BioWare or maybe even Square (since they are working on Dungeon Siege 3) to buy them for their writing/scenario design talent and leave all the fancy "computer" stuff to people who know how to make playable games.

So, this could be the best written RPG of the year but it could also play horribly. Sort of like Alpha Protocol.

Voice cast for F:NV has been announced. Ron Perlman returns as the narrator, and he's backed-up by a pretty solid cast...

Matthew Perry
Wayne Newton
William Sadler
Zach Levi
Felicia Day
Michael Dorn
Kris Kristofferson
Danny Trejo
Rene Auberjonois
John Doman

That is one wicked voice cast right there. :D

Malcolm McDowell voiced President Eden, and Odette Yustman voiced Amata. I think that's about it.

Re: Fallout New Vegas

I dunno. After Alpha Protocol (which I barely touched, the gameplay was so awful), I'm hesitant to try another Obsidian offering until they fire their whole programming staff and replace them.

I think Michael Dorn voiced a non-hostile supermutant in FO2. Given how long those guys can live he's probably reprising that role for FONV. He's actually done quite a bit of voice work as I recall; animated shows and video games. As it happens I was just playing Saints Row 2 and he had a rather significant role there too.

Matthew Perry is a bit of a surprise, I don't think I've spotted him in anything since...I suppose it must have been a guest shot on Scrubs about 4 years back!

Michael Dorn played Marcus the intelligent Super Mutant who was a possible party member. It looks as though he'll be reprising the role. New Vegas is set 35-40 years after Fallout 2, so there's no reason he couldn't pop up. I think it's awesome we'll get to see the character again.
