FALLOUT 3 - discussion thread

yes, there are 3 leaks, one by the entrance, one by the armory/children of the atom chapel (you have to get above it to see it and jump) and the third is under moriarty's, i think, go back and talk to the guy and he will offer you 10 caps for every piece of scrap metal you bring him, the seller with "the family" has 25 pieces of scrap metal for sale for 1 cap each, that's 225 caps profit for very little work

Thanks for the info and tip.

glad to be of help, i went over megaton again ant the leak you probably missed is the church of the atom one, the easiest way to get there is jump from the craterside supply balcony onto the leaky pipe

actually, I hope that they just do more DLC, or something like an MMO expansion pack, because that's all they REALLY need to do, instead of a fallout 4
Well based on Oblivion I would assume we're going to get several pieces of DLC followed by a stand alone expansion pack.

They're doing the equivalent of "Knights of the Nine" packs for the next three months. I suppose they might do a huge pack eventually, but they haven't announced anything on that front.

I'm at a point where I might just wait for the inevitable GOTY edition of the game and save my self 30 dollars in Microsoft space bucks.

I ALREADY finished this. It took maybe 2 hours. I have to say it was a LOT shorter than I expected. The best thing about it is that after you finish, you get access to pretty much every unique weapon from the simulation. The mission itself wasn't all that fun, more like Fallout 3: Call of Duty Edition.

Somehow I only got 8 out of 10 intel packs inside the simulation. I have no idea what the reward is if you get all 10.

Yeah I just wandered around until I spotted it, I just hadn't really put the effort into it before my last post. What I didn't find was "that seller guy with the family." But it's not a big deal.

One of the things that I'm slowing coming to realize is that I'm selling stuff to Moira that I really ought to be hanging on to. And I'm sure down the road, I'm going be going "Dammit to hell" when I realize I don't have something that I need and it was sold to Moira.

For example, I picked up some "mentas" (or whatever they're called) and had sold them to Moira. I didn't know what they were or what they did, but in reading the guide, I later discovered I could take one of them it would boost my explosive skill enough to disarm the bomb. So I went to Moira and bought them back (probably at twice what I got for them) and disarmed the bomb.

Now that I've got a house in Megaton, I won't be so quick to get rid of stuff. I presume stuff is 'safe' if you leave it your house?

Really not enjoying Operation Anchorage right now. It's just too much of a departure from the parent game imho.

Although I would never criticise them for trying something different, it just hasn't worked this time. It did whet my appetite for The Pitt though, can't wait!

and, speaking of the family, don't mess with them, i got caught picking a lock in the guard guy's area and they ALL became hostile, and the 3 day wait thing *for disturbing a city deal* does not work with them, I went to check on Alan who was guarding Arefu and he turned on me, so i ran off, and he got killed by a Yao Guai (i have the animal friends perk so i didn't get attacked and a nearby merchant killed it)

the merchant in "the family's" lair? you can't find him?

Well let me clarify. If by "the family's lair" you're referring to subway tunnels that you access via Seneca Northwest Station, where you talk to Vance about the vampire shit and then talk to the kid Ian, then no I didn't find any trader.

But if there is some other "lair" then I'm not familiar with it.

Well, I finished it last night. I probably spent 3 hours or so on it total, possible a little more. Honestly, I wasnt expecting to last that long. I liked how they allowed you to pick your own team. I didnt really like the lack of stimpacks and ammo you could pick up. There were times when I was getting really close to dying.

I have noticed a number of graphical glitches. I am not sure what is causing it. For one thing, the Doctor at the Army HQ camp has the head of a white woman but the body of a black woman. And the Chinese stealth suit that I picked up looks perfectly fine from the neck down but the head piece is completely black. I find this weird since the suits I saw during the simulation looked fine with no graphical glitch whatsoever.

I got a VERY favorable glitch, while escorting Dr. Li through the escape tunnels, i told her to stay put and her and all the scientists disappeared, so i blast my way throug the tunnels and out to the citadel, where Dr. Li appears, and when i get inside, the rest of the scientists re-appear

Gah, so it's confirmed that the ending for the game is being completely re-written in the last DLC.

I'm not sure how I feel about this... I mean, at least they're changing the end game (child follows in the footsteps of the father), but paying 10+ dollars to see the better ending kind of sucks.
