FALLOUT 3 - discussion thread

Shurik, I went to the different planets like the the jungle one where you are riding around in your buggy along a coastline blowing up stuff, the ice planet and the fire one. I kept looking at my objectives and they would tell me what planet to go to and what to do, but I had already done them and I couldnt figure out who to talk to in the Citadel. I kept going to the captain and he said the same thing. I ran around that place trying to talk to anybody to advance. I thne went back to each planet I could just to see if I bypassed something, but I could never figure it out.

i haven't played much of the game, i've only rented it a few times, my friend sent me a copy, but it got lost in the mail T_T, he's gonna fed-ex me another one in a week or two, i've done blood ties, about 1/2 of the wasteland survival guide, gotten dogmeat, and discovered a few dozen locations

If I understand you correctly, the jungle planet is the one that you are supposed to do after the 3 other planets ... Maybe doing the main quest parts in the wrong order screwed up the game somehow, though it still sounds weird ...

Has anyone started playing the DLC? I downloaded it this morning but probably will not get a chance to do anything with it until Thursday. It was the first time I used that Games for Windows downloader for the marketplace.

Shurik, That is exactly what I think. When I was in my ship I pretty much went to any planet I could land on and did the mission. I think I did go somewhere I wasnt supposed to because on my objective screen it had me going back to the jungle planet I already completed the mission on.

Anybody heard if there will be a Fallout 4? I think they could milk this for a long time. Each new Fallout could be set in a different part of the country or world.

Yeah, I've been playing through it. Pretty fun so far. I like new guass rifle. Seems a lot more accurate and powerful than the sniper rifle. I hope I'm somehow able to keep that when I leave the simulation.

Given the positive sales and reception, I wouldn't be surprised to see an FO4. In fact I'm kind of wondering if Bethesda is going to do kind of a rotating release thing, now--one TES game, then one FO game, then another TES game, etc.

For the sake of their fans I hope so. I'm pretty sure a lot of people that play one also play the other. I doubt many of could handle an Elder Scrolls and Fallout game at the same time. Just too much to do.

actually, I hope that they just do more DLC, or something like an MMO expansion pack, because that's all they REALLY need to do, instead of a fallout 4

I won't be playing this DLC for quite a while since MS/Beth. have decided in their infinite wisdom to only offer the localized versions for download.

Right, I'm going to play with an English version Fallout 3 combined with the German OA  (games are notorious for their extremely awful localization).

Maybe they'll change this at some point, but if they don't, they lost out on $30 altogether since I'd have bought all three expansions otherwise.

I'm new to the party myself. As a general rule, I don't like RPGs (I couldn't stand Oblivion for example) but this one so far has me hooked. I've just gotten started, pretty much doing the stuff in Megaton like the Survival Guide. The most recent thing I've done is try to fix the water leaks, but I'm not finding the 3rd one. There are 3 right? And what do I get when I fix all the leaks?

One of the things I always find daunting about a RPG is knowing the "proper" way to assign skill points and which perks to use. I'm just kind of flying blind in that regard and I know I've already probably screwed up, but I'm too far in now to start over.

yes, there are 3 leaks, one by the entrance, one by the armory/children of the atom chapel (you have to get above it to see it and jump) and the third is under moriarty's, i think, go back and talk to the guy and he will offer you 10 caps for every piece of scrap metal you bring him, the seller with "the family" has 25 pieces of scrap metal for sale for 1 cap each, that's 225 caps profit for very little work

and does anyone know where i can get some more ammo for the alien blaster?

Well based on Oblivion I would assume we're going to get several pieces of DLC followed by a stand alone expansion pack.
