It is better than V...

I hate to say it, but I think I enjoyed V more than FS. The writing was worse, sure, but at least V was colorful in its stupidity. It had bizarre CG sets, scenery-chewing aliens and eventual insanity with that whole "soul" business. Fallen Skies is the worst of all possible shows: boring. It's just dull as sin.

Definitely agree, and I admit I didn't watch this current episode. Just read some comments here to decide and don't want to bother based on what's been said. V was dumb, but at least the V entertained me even if the resistance didn't. Neither the aliens nor the humans interested me in Falling Skies, and its been way too cheesy from the beginning. It's on FX, what was to be expected?

FX? The Shield was on FX

Falling Skies is on TNT. Not FX.

I finally got around to watching it last night since it's been an insanely busy week for me. It was 'ok' at best, a little boring, but I'm hopeful that part 2 will deliver a big payoff. I gave it 3 skitters.
I'm not giving up on this show yet considering there isn't much else on, and I can only take so much Wipeout. If it were a regular season show I'd probably rate it lower.

RJdiogenes said, "Maybe I'm wrong but,..." snippage...

What you described here happened after the harness was removed. I think he tried to put it back on but I don't think it took.

Right. It seemed to me that, from the characters' point of view, it was uncertain exactly what was happening.

I don't think there's any reason to expect them to distrust the other commander. He was known to their own commander, and as far as they know nobody has been in communication with the aliens, and, given the nature of the war, why would the aliens want to collaborate with Humans? The collaboration itself is a bigger stretch than the trust.

"Our" group has already communicated with the aliens twice themselves. Once when the aliens sent a message by executing the kids because the group tried to rescue some of them, and once when the Skitter in captivity spoke through the kid with the harness. It's clear they have some grasp of human psychology and the ability to speak to humans by proxy.

I don't think it's that much of a stretch at all to entertain the possibility that the situation was kind of hinky. In the end their trust of their comrade might override any suspicions, but it would be nice if someone had at least expressed the possibility. It's annoying when the big twist can be seen a mile off by fans but the characters who are exposed to the same questionable behaviors don't even have the first clue.
Everyone was concerned about trusting the other commander with their kids. The big guy was causing a great fuss about how he wasn't letting go of his kid. Even Tom, didn't make the decision to trust him, until things appeared to start getting really dire. Sure, you can complain that trusting him in the end was a stupid choice, but, it's not fair at all to say no one questioned the other CO, because everyone did.

Well no they never, not really. They questioned the plan somewhat and none of them wanted to leave their kids, but no one actually questioned his motives at all. It's still believable I suppose though, as I don't think a precedent had been set for humans working with the aliens.

just out of curiocity, and from a discussion I recently had about Spielberg's movies and the black guy dieing first, has anyone been keeping a running count of the dead black guys on Falling Skies?
