that the other group offering the kids sanctuary isn't a cover to stealing the kids, to replace their own, or (eep!) use them as bargaining chips with the skitters to get their own harnessed kids back.

Some number the eps with the Pilot being the first and second episode, some number them with the Pilot as 1 ep. IMDB Lists 10 episodes for the season (Pilot listed as it's two episodes), so, there's 4 more episodes after tonight's

If they go for something dark and nasty like that, my estimation of the show will rocket upwards. So far, the proceedings have lacked a certain daring element and been a bit too bourgeois.

I get it, Though for some of us that like watching the show when they feel like watching it, an i get the show from other means so this makes it a bit tricky. And not going to spend $10 for a DVR( stupid harddrive in a box) .
Didnt realize its only an 10 episode season. Kind of like Torchwood this season.
Really getting into this show and Torchwood. Wish Doctor Who would show all 13 straight.

If the directing on action scenes gets any worse and the dialogue gets any cornier we're going to end up with a Syfy original movie on our hands. They seem to be shooting for a Band of Brothers vibe with someone of the score, but instead of being profound it just comes across as being a bit cheesy. Shame about the reveal in this episode too, as it was one of the first things I thought of when he said he wanted to evacuate the kids. I'm guessing these writers are perhaps not used to writing sci-fi for a TV audience.

Not to bad, it is clear the one of the main goal of the skitters is to get the children, but for what purpose? slave labor? Also this maybe why they leave groups of humans alive, so they can produce more children.

A leader of a fellow military/civilian group wanders into camp and tells you that his camp was overrun by Skitters. What do the Skitters always do? Steal children.
Why wouldn't the FIRST thing that occurs to you when the same guy offers to shepherd your children alone to a safehouse ahead of your forces be that he's going to trade your kids for theirs, even if he claims they almost all died? At the very minimum how do you not include a well-equipped escort of several soldiers and civilians who wanted to stick with their kids to handle any potential problems, since all you were doing back at camp was making a fighting retreat?
I was practically yelling at the screen not to trust the guy, least of all because whether it's Mission: Impossible or Clear and Present Danger, the dude always turns on his own people.
It's fortunate that the Skitters are pretty stupid as well, because these people are too dumb to live sometimes. Speaking of which, you see and hear a Mech coming a good ten to fifteen seconds before it rounds the corner and can see you, and you just sit there looking out the front of the schoolbus and don't even duck?

I just got done watching it this morning, and it was OK. Temis had the right idea, that guy was a dirt-bag. I hope the second half is better. Maybe Hal will stumble upon Pope, and free him in exchange for helping them escape? IDK. I will check it out though.

This is one of those episodes where you can predict what's going to happen after several minutes. It's not like 24, where the viewer is shown something the characters aren't (we get to see that Nina is a villain before Jack)---the characters in this case were just stupid. It's just poor writing. And don't get me started on the cheesy lines (it's as comfortable as holding a credit card, he should be in junior high with his arm around a cheerleader).

I don't think there's any reason to expect them to distrust the other commander. He was known to their own commander, and as far as they know nobody has been in communication with the aliens, and, given the nature of the war, why would the aliens want to collaborate with Humans? The collaboration itself is a bigger stretch than the trust.

Finally caught up on the show and while it started off promising these last few episodes have revealed a rather mediocre take on an apocalyptic situation leaving humanity in difficult straits. The characters are so-so, the aliens are rather ho-hum with no real definition or interesting motives. It is better than V, FF but nowhere as good as BSG or Jericho.
There isn't anything worth watching on tv this summer so this is passable when the landscape is so barren but the quality of tv--esp scifi--continues to disappoint.

Anyway, circumstances prevented me from watching and commenting until now, and most everyone has touched upon the same things that struck me. As with many two-parters, the first installment kinda dragged in spots, so I'm hoping the second half really kicks ass. I like this show, but I think it really needs to ramp up the action a bit if it's going to be renewed.
Good to see that Pope's back into the mix; question remains if he'll be on anyone's side other than his own.
