I loved it that his job on stargate was to show up at the SGC whenever an especially bad apocalypse was imminent to tell Hammond and O'Niel that George Bush was rooting for them.
Now that ladies and gents is classic Guy Gardener!

This show has got "cancellation" written all over it.
We did get exactly that. Well, I can't remember if any of the credits were rolling during it, but we definitely got a narrative of what had happened.Truth be told, I think I might've liked a little build up, or at least a narrative over the opening credits sequence, something like "6 Months ago, they came. Why we don't know yet, but, they..."

"Steven Spielberg is very involved in the show, which is one of his pet projects," explained Aubuchon. "He has a lot of passion for it. I think it is exciting to work with him, and I think a lot of writers would be looking forward to that."
HM.... I don't remember that? I'll have to double check, I hope they didn't cut it out of the On Demand airing (They shouldn't ahve, it's 2 hours, including commercials, no RFast Forwarding available)We did get exactly that. Not sure. How many episodes are there in the first season, anyway?
It didn't break any ratings records, but the Steven Spielberg-produced alien TNT drama series Falling Skies had a solid debut last night. The series starring Noah Wyle drew 5.9 million viewers for its 9-11 PM opener to become the most-watched cable premiere since TNT's Rizzoli & Isles (7.6 million) last summer, outpacing the October debut of AMC's The Walking Dead (5.3 million). Among adults 18-49, Falling Skies averaged 2.64 million, which fell between the premieres of Walking Dead (3.6 million) and Rizzoli & Isles (2.1 million). Falling Skies, which received mostly positive reviews, moves into its regular 10 PM slot this Sunday. Plans for a second season are already underway, with Remi Aubuchon on board as showrunner.
You forgot about the fact that Steven Spielberg is involved, that definitely doesn't hurt. There's no reason to worry about cancellation now. Falling Skies has three things going for it that shows like The Event, V, and FlashForward didn't:
1. It's on cable.
2. Things blow up a lot.
3. The writing (so far) doesn't make you want to throw your TV out the window.
The biggest problem Falling Skies has is that the demographic skews old, but that's probably just following the average for TNT.
Also, there have been rumblings lately that advertisers at long last may realize that people over 49 do buy products, too, and are not as brand-loyal as people in that age group have been in decades past. Brand loyalty is learned behavior that has become less common among current generations, even the one facing retirement. It's not some bizarre function of growing old.
Interesting. Ten is more than I expected already. Not sure. How many episodes are there in the first season, anyway?
IMDB lists out 10 episodes, but, the msot episodes any actor appears in is 9 episodes and many of them only show appearing in 8 episodes.
It would seem, there should be at least 10 episodes though, since they ahve titles for 10 (2 Hour Pilot was actually 2 episodes, so this coming episode is already episode 3)
Yeah, it's definitely a War Of The Worlds scenario. One other thought I had when I first saw the trailer for the pilot. I get the impression that, when he finished filming War of the Worlds, Spielberg thought "wow, how can I make a TV series out of this". Some of the cinematography in the show is evocative of the film. The Skitters, despite having more legs, are similar to the description of the Martians from Welles' book. And walking machines (OK, they're smaller, but..) All we need is some Red Weed, Black Smoke and a Heat Ray and we're all set.
They jumped to far in the future. To much was going on without any of us actually knowing whats happening. Limited commercial break-my ass.
My guess this doesn't get a second season.
