Fall 2015 New TV Series

The new TV season is upon us! What new shows are you excited for? There seem to be a lot fewer new shows this season, due to so many shows getting renewed last year. I'm used to getting a ton of new sit-coms to try in the fall, but there's only five in total this year.

HEROES REBORN, NBC: I still have fond memories of (some of) the show and I'm excited to see it return.

THE MUPPETS, ABC: The Muppets meet The Office? Can't wait!

SUPERGIRL, CBS: Hopefully it's as enjoyable as Flash and Arrow!

MINORITY REPORT, FOX: I really love the movie, so I'm curious to see this.

BLINDSPOT, CBS: Enh, I'll try the pilot. I wasn't gonna watch Black List and look how that turned out!

I want to be excited for iZombie & Sleepy Hollow but no.

I'm looking forward to Legends of Tomorrow but that's not until Spring 2016. Same goes for the X-Files mini series. And the Prison Break mini-series which is even later.

Oh I'm dying to see Evil Dead come back! I don't get that channel though I'll have to wait for the DVD.

I saw the Comicon panel for Ash vs. Evil. I'm not completely sure if Lucy doesn't merely tolerate Bruce like he's her racist Grandfather.

I've been party to a few advanced screenings.

Supergirl is superb.

Blindspot is half as good as Black list.

You didn't put Limitless on your list, but it's outstanding, but it's essentially going to be more blacklist once it gets comfortable with itself.

Minority Report is plain awful.

Not looking very appealing for genre shows from where I'm sitting !

Kind of hoping Chicago Med is up to the standard of Chicago P.D., or at least Chicago Fire.

Hoping Agents of Shield continues to improve.

Looking forward to Jessica Jones but that's netflix...

Minority Report: I really loved that movie, and I'm interested in seeing a tv series come out of it. It was good enough to keep watching. I was strongly reminded of Almost Human, but this was better.

Blindspot: interesting enough to keep me watching. it has a good central core mystery. The constant nudity of Jamie Alexander was pretty blatant pandering, I can only imagine that's going to swiftly disappear after the pilot.

Life in Pieces: it was okay. I laughed a few times. I'll give it another try.

I am hoping they keep the nudity! I liked Blindspot a lot and had no plans on watching but it came up on Hulu after I watched Minority Report which was pretty good.

I got halfway through "Limitless" before I got bored and turned it off. It wasn't terrible it just wasn't holding my interest.

So what show invented the "weird guy with special abilities partnered with tough normal cop" genre? Alien Nation?

Muppets was the only new show I gave a chance to.

Unfortunately, it was fairly disappointing. The mockumentary style is completely played out. So much so, they have to make a pathetic joke about it in the episode. Speaking of jokes, only about a third of the jokes actually landed. Kermit is a complete and total utter jerk of a boss. And not in the funny way of David Brent or Michael Scott but just a complete and utter jerk. What happened to the tactful although oftentimes frustrated Kermit we've known for years? And his girlfriend is a pathetic plot device.

The Kermit/Piggy break-up actually worked okay for me. It made sense that eventually, even Kermit would get fed up with it. I was actually okay with the Fozzie dating a human storyline, maybe partially because I adore Riki Lindhome, but also because it was a pretty funny take on racial issues. Elizabeth Banks and Tom Bergeron were great. The Electric Mayhem bit at the meeting was hysterical and Animal with Imagine Dragons would be so cool.

But overall, it just lacks the heart of the Muppets. I kept reminding myself "it's just a pilot episode." I'll give it one more chance but I'm really not holding my breath on this one. C-.

I think you hit it on the head. Yeah, I felt like it was relying on that a bit too much. The concept itself was fine, but the execution left to some really awkward situations. But hopefully that will be smoothed out in further episodes.

I agree that overall, it just lacked heart.

The Muppets was really funny! Pleasant surprise. I didn't Kermit was a jerk boss at all. What did he do that was bad?

I forgot to mention this earlier, but after South Park is a new cartoon called "Moonbeam City". It is HILARIOUS. What a huge surprise! Rob Lowe plays this insane arrogant cop in this crazy 1980s exaggerated style world and it is SO funny! And I really love the nostalgic TRON like 1980s black neon visuals and the crazy 80s fashion and soundtrack it's all such a great touch.
