Falco (based on the Lindsey Davis novels)

So far all I have heard is that ITV is planning the show. Since COVID I suspect development has been slowed down. BBC had the rights for awhile, and did a few bbc radio episodes of the first five novels with Anton Lesser, but I am really looking forward to seeing my favorite ancient Roman detective back on the streets.

Has anyone heard anything about the series? I don't know a great deal about ITV living in the states, so I am not sure how we will be able to see it here.

For those of you who are fans of the novels, who would you see cast for the various roles? Anton Lesser owned the title role in audio, but he's probably getting a bit old for it now.

he's probably a bid tied up with Endeavour to revist Falco at this point :)

Think I bought one of hte books many years (an omnibus edition) but for some reason didn't get it to. That I'd recently read McCollough's Masters of Rome series with it's more accurate depiction of Rome so the Davis book didn't gel for me.

Also, it's 20 years and radio casting is different to tv casting. For tv, Falco would need to be someone in their 30s who can seem a bit prissy, while still being charismatic.

Can't think of anyone off hand, so good role for a breakout unknown.

agreed. they'd almost be better off not trying to immerse themselves in the books (there's like 20 of them now?) and make it their own.
