One doesn't need a tinfoil hat to suspect that the various controversies around the Discovery have likely been artificially manufactured.
It's like it follows the same playbook as the one that's been used for Mass Effect: Andromeda. Name the female lead Michael, with a hint of transgender, while making sure to note that it's unusual on various news sites; get some people to question it and then make a big deal about how they are not being "progressive". Plant some noise about a racial controversy, just like with MS:A, and then make a big deal about how people are not being accepting enough of "diversity". Make all of it "in your face" and loud. Search for "Hainly Abrams" and "white tears" (separate topics) in relation to Mass Effect: Andromeda to see the similarities between the controversies.
Ironically, when it comes to Bryan Fuller's "diversity", all of the main Star Trek captains, except one, have been American, and the Discovery's main lead is also American. It's as if the controversies are simultaneously being used as a distraction from that.
Oh, and how can we forget the "leaked" Klingon photo.
They are now doing something very similar with Far Cry 5. All because the Far Cry series have become stale and boring.
All these tricks are likely designed to generate fake hype for otherwise stale franchises.
Do not be fooled!
