Watched it last night on HBO go and it felt like it had a lot of untapped potential that was wasted, especially with the cast that they put together.
It had the dark, dreary, hopeless tone of The Handmaids Tale but they did it better on that show.
They did a good job updating the material to reflect modern technology, burning hard drives and the eels uploading books digitally and using emojis in place of words, but failed to explore the privacy issues that went hand in hand. I was intrigued by how they had added a ‘new civil war’ to be the trigger that led to the banning of books, and I would like to know a little more about that.
