Facebook games - anyone play?

I keep seeing requests from so-called Facebook friends to send gifts related to those games everyone seems to be playing. Out of curiosity, I dabbled around, but it's just like being led by the nose to click here, click there, oh by the way, give us your credit card. :rommie:

Are they actually fun once you get going? Are some better than others? Is the Vampire Wars one any good (sounds more fun than farming.) Should I get myself a better class of Facebook friends?

Facebook games are the 21st century version of Solitaire. They can be fun to play here and there, but if you want them to be something more than a simple time-waster you're doing it wrong.

I played Farmville for a while and had a good time until I got bored with it. They're really nothing to take too seriously. I agree with Kelthaz; they're really just this generation's Solitaire or Minesweeper.

Hmm. You'd think the fact that there are other people (presumably ones you know) in the mix would make them more interesting than Solitaire. But unless people can actually interact - talk to each other inside the game, do things that are unique and not just canned sorts of behavior - I can see how the real-people factor would be sorta useless in keeping things fresh.

I'll go check out Vampire Wars. It would be cool if you can join ad-hoc teams with other people, and then stab your teammates in the back. :rommie:

I didn't really mean that they are "as interesting" as Solitaire, just that they're something you do on the computer to dick around when you should really be working.

The only game I use to play regularly was Tetris because there were a couple of us who played and compared our 40 lines time. One guy was crazy fast, which gave something to chaase.

They help pass time. I only play a couple on there and resist spending money on them.

The only game I played on Facebook was Scrabble, then I stopped playing after a while.
