facebook friends dropping off and reappearing

Anyone else have this problem? I've been noticing that every couple of days a different friend just disappears from my friends list and then reappears a few days later. Doing a little cyber-stalking when I noticed one of my cousins disappeared, I asked her sister about it. She hadn't heard anything about her sister suspending her account for any reason.

I did read about accounts being suspended during finals, but none of the ones who disappeared are in school.

Any ideas, or has anyone else had this problem?

The number of friends I have fluctuates back and forth somewhat regularly... not sure why.

Mine too. Didn't know it was an epidemic but it's stabilzed now.
I think it maybe people canceling their accounts...my cousin did it without me knowing it.

It has to do with periodic maintenance of accounts.
And yes, it does appear as though you've been unfriended. Facebook's had this bug for years.

Same here. Most of time, I think it's that person wants time away from facebook to deal with other things. I've been able to tell when someone has deleted me from their friends list.

I had another problem today. Comments I made on a friends post didn't show up even though he got the email telling him I posted. I reposted the comment directly on his wall and after reloadeding the page it was gone. It showed up along with my previous post about 45 minutes later.

It's been doing that to me on my FB app, I'm not so sure if it's doing that on the computer but it's still annoying.

They're tinkering with the comment function this week.

It's so screwed up, they should just go back to the way it was. It locks up my browser, slows it WAY DOWN, and hangs for about 30 seconds if I start typing a long comment.

On top of that, this having to use "shift+enter" instead of just enter is already on my last nerve.

Funny. Last night, an old friend who I figured had deleted her account after starting teaching (I noticed that most of those who seemed to disappear are teachers, including my older brother) popped up on my friends list after about 1 1/2 years. However, her wall shows no activity since 2009.

That just means her account was deactivated, not deleted. All your information is kept, including your friend list. I deactivated my FB one time and left it alone for a couple years. Came back and reactivated it and I still had the same friends as before, except for the ones who had also deactivated their accounts.

Plus they changed (once again) the settings of who's posts you see - unless you go in and change it, you tend now only to see posts from people you have recently interacted with - even if you click on "all posts" (or whatever it's now called).

Click "Most Recent" and a drop-down menu will appear, giving you the option of only seeing stories from particular applications, or particular friend lists. At the bottom is an entry for "Edit Options..."
