F1 2012 Championship Thread

Apart from the one near the end of Monaco last year that basically handed the win to Vettel and completely ruined the race! I remember Pirelli were pushing for a ban on tyre changes during red flags after that, but I guess they didn't get very far with it.

Ah, yes...

Well, two out of three ain't bad!

The only thing they should be allowed to replace during red flag periods is race damage. I.e. nose cones etc...

As for Tyres they should only be allowed to be changed for climatic conditions.

Red Bull (and their puppets at other Renault-powered teams) are probably just annoyed that their car can't perform without the EBD gimmick, so they're trying to get everyone else's gimmicks banned to bring them down to their level.

Well it was Vettel's choice to go with an old spec, looks like it was the wrong call at least for qualifing.

A rather interesting grid for tomorrow though. Even though Mercedes line up 1 and 2, I suspect that their race pace will be slower than the other leading teams. After all the extrra speed they gain from stalling the front wing as part of the DRS is only useful when they can actually use the DRS.

Tempature alters the pace of cars as well, some cars run better when it's cooler others when it's hotter. Tyre wear etc..

Yes, although Lewis hasn't won a Grand Prix so far this season, he has been consistent on getting on the podium every time.

Well it was certainly an intersting race in Bahrain.

McLaren have some work to do now that pitstops have wrecked two races for there drivers onw for Lewis the other for Button.

Rosberg was lucky to escape without penalty for the incidents with Lewis and Alonso.

The bigger winners from the McLaren's woe appeared to be the Lotus' and the Force India of Di Resta.

I see the silly season (next years line up) is starting early this year.

With Di Resta for Ferrari in 2013 to partner Alonso

Well Hamilton has been stripped of pole, because apparently there was not enough fuel to get back to the pits and provide a sample.

Surely this means results where driveres have stopped at the end of the race without doing a victory lap, should be penalised by being stripped of their points?

Disappointing for McLaren, though Lewis didn't do too badly, all things considered, though he could have easily been victorious if he started from the front.

Still, excellent birthday present for FW, at least until the garage caught fire (there were no serious injuries though, afaik)!
