Ezri Zhian'tara

The Zhian'tara was established as a trill custom for joined trills as a way to harmonize themselves with past hosts and was shown in a DS9 episode with Jadzia.

I really would have liked to have seen a Zhian'tara episode with Ezri at some point in season 7. Maybe they somehow could have gotten Ferrell to come back for one guest role.

What does everyone else think? Should Ezri have gotten a Zhian'tara episode? Would you have liked such an episode?

It wouldn't be a novelty anymore, as it was when first shown. Mentioning it, or having her flashback to Jadzia's return in between slipping in and out of consciousness (they could do it as a hallucination, not needing anyone to stand in for her body at all that way) might work.

I realy would have liked to have seen a Zhian'tara episode with Ezri at some point in season 7.

That would have been awesome, although I fear the temptation would have been to use all the same hosts embody all the same characters as Facets. It might have been interesting to have Garak controlled by Joran.

Maybe they somehow could have gotten Ferrell to come back for one guest role.

I figured as much but part of the appeal of an Ezri Zhian'tara episode would be for an Ezri-Jadzia interaction even if through an intermediary.

As much as I like Ezri, and adore Nicole, they already devoted too much time to a character I felt they didn't need to shoehorn into S7 just because it was "Dax".

An Ezri Zhian'tara could be interesting... but it would have been inconsistent to bring Farrell back. During Jadzia's Zhian'tara, we saw Odo hosting Curzon's personality, not an actor playing Curzon when he was alive.

There would be no reason to bring Terry Farrell back. The whole point is to have another recurring character "play" a past host.

I guess they could get Keiko to do it...

I would have happily taken this instead of "Field Of Fire"! I think the way to do it would have been to really focus in on Jadzia. We could slide right by the other previous hosts, no need to spend too much time retreading that ground, that can happen off-camera. But it would have been fascinating to see Ezri and Jadzia really talk, and the Zhian'tara lets them handily sidestep the Terry Farrell issue.

I'm not sure who I would have put Jadzia in, though. Garak? Bashir? Kira? It feels too obvious to put Jadzia in the only other female character, but Nana Visitor could have acted the hell out of that, I'm sure she could have channeled Farrell's performance exactly.

God, this really could have been a "Yesterday's Enterprise" for Jadzia. You get the episode arc from the station being attacked during the Zhian'tara, and Jadzia-in-someone-else's-body springs into action and is crucial in saving the day. It's a contrivance, but less of one than the setups for "Prodigal Daughter" and "Field Of Fire"!
