'Eye of the Needle' and turning point in season 1

In my rewatch of VOY starting with season 1 I've noticed that it looks like Janeway and a cue to the audience that a turning point in 'Eye of the Needle' Ep.#106 that getting 70,000 lightyears home is not going to be easy and to settle in for a series.
Do you guys get this feeling 6 episodes in (just after 1 month of VOY on the air)?
Surely it had to happen sometime and we had to really get down to meeting new enemies and starting battles and the whole science exploring aspect that VOY has from TOS.
Did it happen for you guys here with this episode too?

Nah, I just got "well, this plan is obviously gonna fail somehow" from the first few minutes, like I did all the other "try to get home with crazy scheme" (Threshold etc.) episodes. I remember watching one of the "try to get home" eps with my family way back when it was first shown, and saying "this is obviously gonna fail - they'll get back in the final episode, not before" and being told I ruined it:lol:.

It's the same thing with SGU.

I was a little surprised they tried to get an episode like this in so soon after the show started, but I can see where you saw the whole "turning point." For me, the "settling in" seemed to take place circa Parallax.

On the upside, even though they had a lot of harebrained schemes over the years, I did find it pretty funny when they started getting skeptical/annoyed each time some magical solution would pop up. Well, except for Harry. He'd get excited every time up until the final episode.
