Extremely Detailed Berman Interview

Has anyone else seen this? I just happened across it on YouTube:

It's an extremely lengthy and detailed interview -- it runs nearly 3 hours in fact! But it's interesting to see Berman discuss everything at such length. He's very frank about some things. He gets alot of details wrong, frankly, misremembering how things happened. But it's got alot of interesting information, none-the-less.

I've looked at several of these archive interviews... I'm surprised I never saw that Berman did one.

What is your problem? Everyone has the right to express their opinion. And from other interviews I heard Berman could in fact be a real batardo.

He deserves plenty of disrespect for inflicting his aesthetic on TREK to its detriment from day one. Just for music notions alone, Berman is almost the antichrist of trek.

That's pretty harsh! TNG was very succesful and brought in a whole new generation of fans into trek. I got into Trek through TNG and that is trek to me. I enjoy the original but TNG is trek for me and many others. I'm not a fan of Voyager or Enterprise but Rick did alot of good to Trek during his time.

Trevanian is kind of like Navaros when it comes to discussing modern trek. It's best not to get into a discussion over that stuff unless you want a headache.

Anyways, it's good Berman is speaking out on Trek. If there's anything really wrong in these interviews then others on the production staff will also speak out, giving us a more complete picture.

He decided the only music in Trek was to be background atmospheric music. So all we got was that horrible inncuous background muzak for all those years.

I watched the Voyager and Enterprise section. It wasn't particularly revealing, the only things that provoked any sort of response was...

-Interesting to hear about the Jeri Ryan/Kate Mulgrew antagonism from Rick Berman.
-Blatant "add a babe" move with Jeri Ryan, in his own words the move was to simply "add a babe", how pathetic.
-Kes hard to write for? I still don't believe that BS.
-Season long Enterprise arc first time it was ever done in Star Trek? Did this guy pay any attention to DS9?
-The guy who played Travis was a good actor? WTF?
-Still doesn't see the problem with Nemesis, there really is no hope for this guy.

Apart from that, there isn't much here.

However craven TPTB were in their "add-a-babe" motivation for creating Seven of Nine, she remains one of the most popular and also best-written of Trek characters, extremely well-acted by Jeri Ryan.

How is this relevant?
Star Trek is its own show and I would expect any good showrunner to be above thinking that the "add a babe" strategy is the way to improve a show.

Or facts. (but at this point, anybody who really wanted another opinion w/ some history and info behind it could just buy back issues of CFQ to get a more complete picture of Berman and his production views.)
