Extending Bootcamp Partitions?

Just got a macbook pro and partitioned it using bootcamp, putting XP on the other half.

On the ~185gb available on the drive, I put 120 for Mac and 65 for Windows, however I have now unexpectedly acquired a licence for a fully working Final Cut Studio. I really don't need much for the Windows partition at all now (I can use network drives at work) so ~30gb would be plenty.

Is it possible to decrease the amount of space on the Windows partition so I get more on the Mac, despite the fact that XP is now fully up and running with network applications required for my work... which took me all of yesterday to install...?

Would really like to use the extra space for FCS media.

Hello.

Two options (I know of):

1.
- clone the Windows partition with SuperDuper
- delete the Windows partition with the Boot Camp application
- create a new one with the desired size
- and copy back all the cloned stuff

2. Use a resize tool found MacUpdate search results for "resize partition".

I would do the first one, it costs nothing except the copy time (considering the amount of data on your Windows partition).

If you have more questions regarding Macs, there are several forums like Applenova, Appleinsider and even the Apple Discussion Board.

Have fun with Final Cut...
