I once had a cat. And he fled from the fireworks. I once was in a Refugee camp as a social worker. The Refugees had to be told to stay quiet and don't be afraid. They could have confused the fireworks with bombings.

I can see that for refugees. Fireworks can also have a profound effect on Vets.

Sweden has a new law from 2019. You need a licence to be able to buy and/or use firework on a stick. Hopefully there will be fewer firework related accidents from now on!
