I always thought the word 'verklempt' was made up specifically for that sketch (which, IRL, was based on Mike Myers' mother in law).
Well, I wasn't sure myself until recently when I checked that word on the Internet.
It's Yiddish.
To be verklempt is to be overwhelmed by emotion. You might be able to discern that someone is verklempt if he is choking back tears, unable to speak, or clenched because of intense emotions.
Which is how Mike Myers played it.
