I cut, notched, and installed the surface top of a room divider half-wall today that's been one of my cat's scratching posts essentially since I moved into this house. It's two sandwiched boards that have both been decoratively routered (profiled) on three edges. The top of the dividing wall went from 6-3/4-inches to 9-1/4 inches wide so hopefully, things won't be falling off of it quite as often. Now it just needs to be painted.
I've also done a ton of cleaning. I had to in order to access the area to install the wall top. Tiny, balled-up caramel and Starburst wrappers and all sorts of mail and packaging and two long extension cords that I wish I knew I had. The caramel and Starburst wrappers are not mine. They're my housemate's and there's no telling how long they've been there.
Oh, I did find another one of my cats' favorite mousies (bright red faux fur with a bright red feather tail).
If you can't tell, I'm finally getting this house livable after living here for almost ten years.
