Explain your Sig!

The first is a quote from Orac Zen and is pretty self explanatory.

The second is from a former poster, star who in replying to someone else in the Commies Lounge left a comma out (after treasure) and changed the whole meaning of what she was trying to say.

The third is from a Briefing Room discussion about something that seemed quite important at the time and I must have said something profound.

Mine's just a lame joke.

(Though if someone wanted to pay me to rent out my signature, I would entertain offers.)

Mine comes from the documentary 'Stranded" which is about the Andes Survivors.

Robert Canessa was one of the two young men that managed to make the 10 day walk out of the Andes. He, and Nando Parrado, were malnourished, had no mountain climbing experience, no proper equipment and had to climb up a 16,000 foot mountain. They managed to save their own lives and the lives of the 14 other men they left behind in the plane.

It is a survival story that has inspired ever since I first read the book "Alive".

I tried being witty but ended up with more of a truth in advertising thing which is almost more appropo to my location . . .

First was something I developed as a sort of non denominational blessing to offer someone who was in need of a good thought.

The second was a statement made by the daughter when life handed us another rain of lemons and we were too full of lemonade to deal with another crisis cheerfully.

Mine is a song lyric that struck a chord. The funny thing is that I misheard the lyric (I am hard of hearing and often mishear lyrics). It is actually, "I wish I had two paths I could follow," but it means the same thing to me. Also, a link to my Deviant Art page.

It's just an amusing quote from one of my favorite television characters (though it's probably about time to change it to something else... there are plenty of great Gilmore Girls quotes to go around).

Mine is latin and stands for "Small in numbers, large in deeds". It is the motto of the Royal Netherlands Air Force (my employer).

I've been looking for a quote from Scrat, but I've come up blank so far.. :vulcan:

I'm a fan of Civilization IV, and the quote below was narrated by the awesome Leonard Nimoy.

I'm generally used to forums that can have a banner in the sig, therefore that quote is what immediately came to mind instead as I was editing my profile.

Currently, it's just a link to my various blogs- book, movie, and television reviews, and progress reports on my cross stitching and beading projects.

I used to have a quote from Patrick O'Brian's HMS Surprise: "Jack, you have debauched my sloth".- Dr. Maturin after his pet sloth gets drunk.

Not enough room for a link and the quote. :(

Something that Huntingdon said about me back in the day in the old Rear Admiral's Lounge. My sig has been the same for about 6 years.

Mine is a paraphrased quote from The God Thing's (long time TBBS members will know who he is) greatest hits collection.

I use mine to promote the convention(s) I work on. We just signed Lindsay Wagner as a guest a week or so ago, and I'll be updating it again shortly with another guest announcement. We signed Rob Sawyer and Kelley Armstrong (and about 15 other authors) a few months ago, but I only thought to actually redo my signature recently as I had removed it completely after last year's Worldcon.

Change my sig line a lot.

The current one is from a song by Charlie Daniels called Still In Siagon. My grandpa use to listen to it a lot.

My faith is the most important thing in my life.

And I really love the Babylon 5 episode from which the quote is taken, especially the actions of Lennier and Delenn, who deliver the line.

The first two lines are quotes from the two Blakes 7 characters who form my username; I've used the first in my sig for five or six years and the second for about three. The first quote is something I try to bear in mind when some of the "discussions" around here start getting ridiculous. The second line just sounds cool and, I suppose, kinda profound. (Avon's response is priceless. :D )

The third line changes a lot. Currently, it's a line from Now, Voyager.

Currently, it is one of my favorite lines from my favorite character from Torchwood.

Basically, one of the other characters, Owen, just couldn't get it through his head the the entire telephone network was down and Ianto tried to... explain it.
