Excelsior class starship phasers?

Does anybody know if the Excelsior NCC-2000 and
Enterprise-B-NCC-1701-B had the same number of ship mounted phasers?

JDW

Then again, it is possible that the E-B had the same number (although not the same, uprated type) of emitters as the Lakota. And since the latter had more emitters "in reality" than the corresponding model did...

Excelsior:

5x2 turrets on saucer dorsal surface
5x2 turrets on saucer ventral surface
4x1 turrets on secondary hull bottom
Undisclosed number of turrets elsewhere, not built into the model but possibly indicated on the never-seen-in-focus MSD

Lakota, seen firing in addition to above:

At least 1 emitter per saucer "box addition" side
At least 1 emitter between impulse domes
At least 1 emitter on the bubble from which the warp engine pylons branch out

Additional emitters indicated in E-B MSD:

2x2 flanking aft shuttlebay

The Excelsior class was always one of my favorites. I would concur with Timo's count of phaser banks. I think I'm going to print out that MSD, frame it and hang it.

I always have to wonder why the Excelsior is a super-powerful ship when it's aiming DOWN, but didn't cover its aft arcs well. Of course, we COULD assume the undercarriage mess is some sort of weapons emplacement, but I dunno...

Short 'real' answer, the amount of weapons physically on the model makes little difference as to how many weapons are actually on the ship 'in universe'.
