Excelsior Class MSD

Refit?
There is only one Sovereign class, no refits.

You'd be AMAZED how many fanboys out there think otherwise...

Oh it's not about fanboy-ism. And this is not to encourage debate but.

I can tell from the silhouette the position of the Nacelles are different than the original design, that's a structural change, all the armament they added was merely surface. That alone would be a sign of a refit, but it doesn't matter to me what everyone else calls it, in a completely unofficial capacity, I call it a refit. I can't call it the original because there are differences, so to isolate the changes I give it a name.

So sue me for Fanboy-ism but I'm not much of a fan for Trek anymore. Too many let downs.

But the overall structure is precisely the same in all her appearances, with exception of the altered main shuttlebay entrance and the aforementioned weaponry.

The only significant change is the outline of the official MSD when compared to that of the physical and CGI models.

The MSD was created by Doug Drexler who used the outline from the blue prints that were sent to the model shop. However, it seems the folks at the shop produced a slightly sleeker model than the outline suggested.

Nope. And according to John Eaves, the designer, the sovereign class is not capable of saucer seperation. He drew some ideas for it, but there was never any official nod.

That's about right.
There is no impulse engines for the Stardrive and the shuttlebay doesn't allow for the mate. Are you going to do all those supports that show up on the decks of original Sovereign Model?

Both versions are excellent. You have a DS9 and Film color version, why not a TNG color version?

Thank you:

An update on the sovvy:

Designs like this (or Vektor's USS Grandeur) are NOT what I call Fanboy-ism. I'm talking about some of the stuff I've seen out there on the net (like ships that are nothing more than Sovereign with two or even four additional warp nacelles)...

Here's another update

And before anyone asks, it's an ODN trunk that in the original MSD connected to sensors in the dome where the Yacht now resides.
I will be putting a sensor clusted in the lower half of the yacht, making it a sensor dome when docked, which it probably would be 95% of its life.
