As this one is a very popular design, I decided to do two versions of this MSD for you all.

Never mind. Clicked through your link and found them (reading, it's fundamental!). Do you mind if I extrapolate and use this as a basis for my eventual Excelsior Class Deck-By-Deck (first I have to finish my TMP deck-by-deck)?

I don't think the openings in the neck are photon tubes...I think it's a cargo bay...
Tubes are on the secondary hull.

I was though that the torpedo tube in that location was suspect to clear the lower saucer in maneuvering situations.

Your work is beyond AWSOME those have to be the best starship LCARS displays I have ever seen. I love the movie/tos version of the Excelsior Class. How much trouble would it be to the movie/tos treatment to the Miranda Class? I look forward to seeing more of your work!

Thanks for the speedy reply. I just thought that it would look great seeing a comparison between the old and the new since both the Excelsior and the Miranda were still in service well into the next generation. I can't wait to see what you come up with next.

It was given additional torpedo launchers and the CGI model differs from the physical model ever so slightly with the main shuttle bay, but it is not a refit.
