Watched it again last night after watching Violent Night and it bugs me a bit that they were able to transform Paris and Janeway back so fast, exactly how much time did this uber genetic undo take? We don't know because it all happens off screen and is probably very gross and horroresque. But geez I'd love to know what the Doctor did in such a short time.

Aside from pulling some kind of transporter magic and pulling their last known pattern for reconstitution I am not sure how they could recover from salamander mode. It was a pretty extreme transformation! Not raising the salamander kids in cetacean ops was a huge missed opportunity too. The angsty teenage lizard baby stories practically write themselves.
