Ex-Comm - X-Files meets West Wing?

I'm not sure what to make of this.

...a sci-fi drama with humor...Ex-Comm is described as a present-day “presidential procedural” and a cross between the paranormal suspense of The X-Files and the political intrigue of The West Wing. It follows a newly-elected President and his top secret “Executive Committee” (a.k.a. Ex-Comm), the government’s covert team of America’s most elite minds who investigate and protect our nation from the strangest occurrences and “conspiracy theory truths” out there. Tonally, the show aims to be fun but grounded, with everything in it operating within the realm of possibility.
So, The X-Files done from the perspective of The Man? mmmmm...

Harry Lennix as the prez, Ben Browder as the lead agent.

I can see them having to change the name once 2k Games hears about it. The similarity in name to X-com plus the possible overlap of the concept of the series and the game - secret elite teams investigating threats to the US - will probably cause issues in the future.

No great loss, Ex-Comm is a terrible name. Sounds like something you'd buy at a pharmacy and hope you don't meet anyone you know. :D

This reminds me of an idea I had for something similar way back when The West Wing was floundering around in its fifth season - that the showrunners should just acknowledge that they'd never be able to make any remaining seasons a worthy continuation of the Sorkin years, and instead go super-goofy: have aliens invade, Independence Day-style, and show the characters dealing with that. Josh having rapid-fire debates about Area 51 resource management, Toby hunting aliens in the Capitol Building with a plasma rifle.

But then the show did recover and become good again, thus rendering my idea pointless. :p
