EW Reporter Saying TSCC Is Dead

Scoop: Fox set to terminate 'Sarah Connor Chronicles'

Apr 14, 2009, 03:56 PM | by Michael Ausiello

Resist the urge to nuke the messenger, but multiple sources are telling me that Fox will not be renewing Terminator: The Summer Glau Sarah Connor Chronicles for a third season.

"It's done," maintains a source close to the show. "Everyone has pretty much known for a couple of weeks." Adds a network insider: "Consider it canceled."

The one bright spot? Despite horrific ratings, Fox isn't ready to declare SCC dead and buried -- at least not officially. "No decision has been made yet," insists a network rep. "We will be announcing our fall schedule on May 18."
Rough translation: It won't be back.

Oh, I just thought of one other bright spot: At least the show went out on top creatively. Last Friday's finale was an action-packed, closure-filled triumph. The only thing left unresolved is what Summer Glau will do for an encore. I'm thinking 24 should hire her as next season's Big Bad.

Just a note for everyone:

Ausiello posted the same exact post (almost word for word) last year. The writers have also posted on twitter that its untrue.

(Off to call his contact on the writing staff).

Thanks for the info, if that's true that he's basically just reposting most of what he said last year, that's pretty low.

I'm not saying it isn't true, just don't take anything as true until officially announced.

^ I don't think anyone here is saying that it isn't. I was just saying to wait until you have official confirmation.

Remember too that he posted on his blog this time last year that Sarah Connor was cancelled and it got a second season.

A bummer if true -- I just wish they'd give the producers decent notice of cancellation so that they could tie up the loose ends. I'm thinking it's not worth my giving any attention to serialised shows until their stories have been completed.

That is depressing news. But let's wait till the official announcement.

As an aside, we've still got a couple of episodes to go here in Blighty, so can we please keep this particular thread spoiler free for the time being? No one's said anything yet (unless you count nx1701g's avatar :)), so let's keep it that way please.

It seems to be true according to this news item, which is really sad. I think TSCC is the best show they've made for a long time.

It's reporting from the same EW source originally posted.

I think there's a danger with people assuming its dead, because if it starts being reported everywhere as fact that it's dead, I wonder if those in charge will consider its reputation even more damaged and be more likely to actually go through with the cancellation decision.

If this is true, and I really hope it isn't, I'm actually quite satisfied with the conclusion. I know there seems to be a difference in opinion on that but the way I look at it:

We got resolution on the Weaver storyline, we can assume that Sarah Conners dies of cancer, and John Conner arrived in the future right before he actually became the leader he is destined to become. That's why no one had heard of him. We can assume that he takes charge and leads the resistance to victory

If it is cancelled then thats a shame. I havent even finished watching the first season yet, but from what ive seen i liked it. Im still holding onto the slim hope that if Terminator Salvation does well at the box office, they will keep SCC around to profit off of it.

I hold out no hope for this show's return. But, networks on the very rare occasion have surprised me before. I'll wait for the official word.

As an eternal optimist I must hope but really, speculation be damned, I think we have to wait and see. Shame if it goes-I had a LOT of questions about the season finale.
