I find that Activision released several good Star Trek games. Bridge Commander is the first that comes to my mind and I enjoyed Elite Force 1 a lot too (it sadly has suffered little from the passage of time), Elite Force 2 was acceptable but it did not have the same impact a EF2 and I rather disliked the story.
But from there? Well I like the storyline of Away Team, it is the gameplay I don't really like because of several problems with it and the game also has a somewhat unfinished feeling.
Armada 1 & 2. Well I liked Armada 1 at the time even if it felt like a Star Trek version of Starcraft, but I never could finished Armada 2. I wouldn't really see them as full Star Trek games people who played them know how loosely was played with the abilities of species and ships, and all the gameplay weapons that were added that don't exist in the main Star Trek game
I own Starfleet Command 3 but I also never properly played that game.
The same also goes for Invasion which I also own, I really still would like to play and finish this one.
Interplay and Microprose released plenty of stinkers as well. Generations may have been better than the movie but not all of its gameplay is smooth such as the starship combat engine (I also really dislike the one used in "A Final Unity", great adventure but lousy combat) or the lack of a save option during missions.
When you have to solve puzzles and some can result in your death if you mess up it would be nice if you could save beforehand.
Starfleet Academy was nice for its time but after finishing it once I could never really get back into it and Bridge Commander later completely blew it away.
I didn't even finish Klingon Academy as I am not that much of a Klingon fan.
Starfleet Command 1, 2, and Orion Pirates. I have them but I never played them.
BTW Simon and Shuster seem to be ignored here and I thought their Deep Space Nine game The Fallen was pretty good despite a few little flaws here.
Can't talk about Dominion Wars though, another title I never played.
Afterwards, well I never bought any of Bethesda's Star Trek games, and though I liked Mass Effect 2 I found Star Trek 2009 an average clone. (also doesn't help that I don't care for the movies)
Star Trek Online, well it requires time to get into that one and I don't really have that on the moment so I really much rather play a fun Single Player game.
So yeah, Activision was honestly not Star Trek gaming's lowest point, that pretty much came after Activision gave up the Trek game development license and it went on ice for quite some time.
And it did not completely recover when it came out afterwards for some people like me.
As for the new Star Trek Crew game or what it is called, I don't have one of those VR headsets but even then I would not buy it as it is based on the new movie universe.
For the foreseeable future Star Trek gaming is dead to me.
