Everything Sucks! (Netflix series)

(It doesn’t actually suck!)

About the drama club and AV club coming together to make a film but it’s so much more than that! It came out a few months ago but I dismissed it as just another high school show. I was wrong. It’s surprisingly wonderful!

I saw it, I thought it was a okay show but they didn't really nail down the feel of the late 90's IMO which was a issue for me. I liked the story of the girl dealing with being gay and the principal/mom romance but i'm not sure it grapped me. They were really trying to invoke some "Stranger Things" feels with the show which i'm not sure if I disliked it but it was a little ovious.

It's (eventually) about two straight guys failing to seduce a cuddle of lesbians who should not have paired off.

Heatbreak city.

My Girlfriend kept asking me what all the old music was playing in the background.

That's a unique take on the premise but not to far from the truth. The main girl hooks up with someone who was basically bullying her at first.

It’s not just that. Emaline copied whomever she was with because she didn’t know how to be herself. She was dramatic (both in clothing style and personality) with Oliver and she did the same thing with Kate.

That being said, I very much enjoyed watching Kate’s journey of self-discovery, and once she told Luke to back off, I liked seeing their friendship evolve.

Theatre nerds are not cool.

It's like Luke and Kate didn't actually raise their profiles.

Most likely that is the case in many High School's but when you get to small towns you can can see things that aren't common. In my high School Wrestling, as in the real kind was big because they had won lots of championships or something in the past. Most of the basketball team which I was on was basically also the smartest kids in the school. Also this was in 1993 to 1994 and for some reason the girls's basketball team played 6 on 6 and I guess that must have been how high school girls basketball was done in the past. I wasn't familiar with it. you had 3 girls on one side of the court and 3 on the other so it would be like 3 on 3 and then when the other teams gets the ball they would get it to the girls on the other side. I think this is also how Hockey is kind of done but I don't know much about hockey.

I liked it, but I didn't love it. Music was great, and I thought the language and feel was pretty accurate. I did grow up on the west coast, where the show takes place, so that's probably why it feels so "real" to me. There was a lot that I could relate to, and some things that I couldn't. The attempt to copy Stranger Things was definitely clear to me, especially when it came to the group of guy friends and a new girl that one of them likes "intruding" on the group.

I'll be happy to watch another season. It was a good show, even though I wouldn't necessarily call it a great show.
