Ever Been on a Game Show?

i was on the nickelodeon game show "Legends of the Hidden Temple" i was on the Silver Snakes and we won all the challenges up to the temple which he got to go through, but ran out the clock on the put the monkey statue together room, one room away from the room with the item, i never got to go through the temple :( but along with the gifts we got (a bike, a super nintendo and some money, the main prize was a trip to space camp) i got to keep the shirt

There's a Facebook group called "I hate when kids suck at putting together the shrine of the silver monkey" :guffaw:

heh, i'd be the king on there

I haven't. My parents almost got on the Newlywed Game. I keep telling my brother he should try out for Wheel of Fortune since he's so good at guessing the puzzles.

I once guessed the puzzle "Never a dull moment" with absolutely no letters. I think that was my only psychic moment in life.

Never been on one but was at the recording of A Question of Sport for Sport Relief this year. :D Going to another Question of Sport recording in September too. :D

My mum was on 100% she did not do very well but mum and dad went down with 2 friends to make a weekend out of it and they took there friends car when they got back the farmers where blocking all the fuel deports but we did not care because we had 2 car's full of petrol.:D

my sister was in the audience for a couple of episodes of the UK version of Deal or No Deal and did appear on-screen in one...

A friend of mine, Nick Spangler, will be on the next Amazing Race with his sister, Starr (she's gorgeous).

It'll be fun watching someone I know on that show. It's the only night time game show I watch these days. Less of the ridiculously bad trash-talking, and you get to actually see great places and learn a little.

That's really cool. I wish TAR was filming in HD - I know Survivor is, this season.

Yes. It was in 2001 and the game show called Burger Quiz.
Best memory ever. :)

Okay here's a screen capture of me (STUPIDLY wearing a sweater) on Classic Concentration in 1986, hosted by Alex Trebek.

I've always wondered how one gets on a game show in the first place and what you have to do to get there if you ever do get on. Wouldn't mind trying it out sometime as some of them seem like common sense is all that's needed to be on them. Obviously though when in fron of an audience of hundrerds or thousands then I guess I'd probably be a nervous wreck.

It's changed a great deal from the old classic game show days. Back then you'd make an appointment by calling the production office, go in, take a written version of the test (depending on the game show).

If you did well, they'd interview you and possibly have you play a mock version of the game. (NOTE: On Jeopardy, you had to get 40 out of 50 on the initial test to even advance to the next level. That usually eliminated about 90% of the applicants)

Then, if they wanted you, they'd put you in a contestant "pool" and call you if needed. (Or, if you were in Los Angeles for a limited time, they might put you on the air right away. They'll make no such considerations anymore. YOU have to make the time)

Now, there are so many risks and legalities that you have go through a much more detailed application and screening process and sign a very detailed waiver, protecting the network and production company if anything should go wrong ... or even if you get angry because you lose. (Yes, some people actually try to sue game shows even if the contestant was just plain stupid or played poorly).

But most game shows have online applications.
