Even more horrific accusations against Neil Gaiman revealed

Yes and no. The showrunner will do a final pass for voice and tone ("The Doctor wouldn't say 'It's there,' he'd say 'There it is.'"), but it's not obligatory that there'll be any changes, or any substantial ones (I believe Russell T. Davies mentioned in his book that he didn't or hardly rewrote Moffatt's Doctor Who episodes, for instance). For earlier drafts, it's possible there will be notes sent back for the original writer to implement, though considering the hectic pace of television production, it's common for the showrunner to simply rewrite it themselves.

In this case, an example I remember is that in Gaiman's first draft of "The Doctor's Wife," the Corsair was much more explicitly described as a proto-Doctor, who was the Doctor's childhood hero who he modeled himself on, which Gaiman ran by Moffat before he'd even done his first draft (Moffatt thought having a "Gray Ghost" to the Doctor's Batman wasn't the right choice, and the Corsair became a peer instead of an idol). There's more information about the writing process here on a Q&A Gaiman did on his blog, but since I doubt any of us are going to get the chance to do a Writer's Guild credit arbitration where one of us is sent every draft and correspondence between the two of them to figure out which word came from which person, the idea that the episode will be fine if it's more Moffat's than Gaiman's feels a bit like debating angels dancing on the heads of pins. Does it still count as Moffatt's creation if it was his feedback but Gaiman did the actual writing?
OK, I guess I had kind of exaggerated how extensive their rewrites tend to be in my mind. So it's usually more of a few tweaks to fit the tone and style of the show, rather than totally rewriting them?

What's disturbing to me is that Amanda Palmer has been implicated by two of Gaiman's accusers, of being complicit. Palmer and Gaiman separated a couple of years ago and I figured it was because of the accusations. I've been quite a fan of her music, so if true, this really sucks.
Likewise. I've been waiting for a response on any of her social media accounts and I finally saw one today that essentially says "No comment because I'm in the middle of the divorce proceedings."

I've been reading the Dark Horse comics adaptation of Anansi Boys, which launched before the first reports from Tortoise. When those came out, I decided for the time being to not read any further Neil Gaiman comics, but stick with Anansi Boys out of respect for adaptation writer Marc Bernardin, someone I enjoy both for his writing and his commentary.

Well, today Bernardin announced that Dark Horse cancelled the book. In a post on BlueSky, he wrote:

Last week, Anansi Boys 7 hit stands. It will be the last issue. Dark Horse will not release a trade. I am incredibly proud of the work we did on the book. @smartinbrough.bsky.social 's lines were fantastic, @sotocolor.bsky.social 's hues were extraordinary, @david-mack.bsky.social slayed the covers. But all of that pales. Anansi Boys is about two brothers, twins. One is meek, timid, like a flopsy, set-upon puppy. The other brother is narcissistic, hedonistic, governed by nothing other than his own pursuit of sensation and pleasure. They seem so different, but they are very much flip sides of the same coin. Literally. I never gave too much thought about that. Until now. My heart breaks for the survivors and any pain seeing these books on the shelves might have caused.

So I'm guessing they didn't finish the story. I really liked the novel. I remember reading Gaiman's blog as he was writing it.
I have a copy of Ansani boys, American Gods, Norse gods and the four volumes of Sandman. I sold my copy of Norse Gods, I might sell Asani boys and American Gods soon, I still need to read volumes 2 to 4 of Sandman and then I'll sell those too.

But here in Belgium we had a scandal as well, a certain radio host who is gay, married and has kids was arrested for child porn. He was fairly popular, especially for the LGBTQIA+ community. And he got away with a slap on the wrist, because the judge sentenced him to court mandated therapy, everyone was mad

Tĥe stage musical Coraline, which was set to have its UK premiere April 11, has been canceled by the producers in light of the allegations against Gaiman.

Again, this is why I hate these kind of situations, I never know what to believe when it's not as obviously true as what's being said about Gaiman.

I didn't think about that.

Isn't it pretty much standard practice for a showrunner to rewrite every script, even if it's from someone like Gaiman?
Depends on the showrunner. Gene Roddenberry was Notorious for rewriting anything that came across his desk. Some others have taken a more hands-off approach only tweaking certain things to fit if they have an ongoing Arc or something like that. There's no clear rule or standard on this one where the other.

Unfortunate that so many people end up suffering for the crimes of one person.
I was thinking the same thing, a lot of people are losing their jobs because of him. I guess there's really no way to separate these shows and things from Gaiman since they're all coming from his books.

“‘The Sandman’ series has always been focused exclusively on Dream’s story, and back in 2022, when we looked at the remaining Dream material from the comics, we knew we only had enough story for one more season,” “The Sandman” showrunner Allan Heinberg said in a statement to Variety Friday.

How do you write a sentence that full of bullshit without your head exploding?

You work in entertainment or politics.

I find it very hard to believe that 75 issues of the comic can only equal 23 episodes of the series. I'm not positive on my math, but I believe the first season mostly covered the first two trades, so with 10 trades, that means there should be at least enough content for three more seasons. Then if we add on the spin-offs that would stretch things out even more.

There are a lot of Morpheus lite stories.
