Evangelion 2.0 You Can [Not] Advance

Well, just had the pleasure of watching this awesome movie so now I am here to tell you guys about the fact that it is super ultra awesome :p At this point the movie has diverged significantly from the show with I would say 50 percent or more of the movie being either new or altered content from the show. Of particular interest is a new and expanded "toothpick" scene. While I liked the first movie, the 2nd is definitely an improvement. I can't wait for the third :D

Terrible but as far as cams go its not too bad  The scenes that take place during the day are really clear and thankfully enough of the movie takes place in well lit areas. Even though its grainy as hell you can still make out that it is one beautiful movie. I mean even with the crap quality it has some of the best animation I've ever seen.

I was going to wait for a the DVD rip as well, but considering it was the show that got me into anime, I just couldn't resist.

I would say if you're a ginormous eva fan like I am, it's worth taking the plunge and getting the camrip raw

Yeah, it's a four part movie project where they are sort of retelling the show. It's also possible that it is a sequel to the show based on some of the details in the movie. The first movie was mostly a retelling of the first 6 episodes of the show and it will be released in the US on DVD this fall. The second movie has changed many things though including

Asuka is now the pilot of the Eva which turns into an Angel, and loses her eye as a result of the battle
and

We are introduced to who appears to be the Eva pilot of the Nerv base that vanished in America. The difference this time is that she was able to fight them off and while it appears the base was still destroyed, she survived
as well as

Rather than dying by shoving the N2 bomb at "the beast" Rei gets absorbed into the angel and shinji goes all gurren lagann and pulls her out, starting what looks to be 3rd impact. Kaouru, this time with an Eva of his own, uses the lance on shinji and then the movie ends

I'm a huge Evangelion fan, but I'll definitely wait for a subbed version. Still gonna try to wait out a good quality rip of the movie that's not cam based.

Very interesting, thanks for the highlights of the differences. I think I'll wait for a good box set of all 4 movies before getting into it, I hate having to wait between installments on something like this.

Actually they
act like she died, then inexplicably show her alive in the trailer for Rebuild of Eva 3 at the end

Absolutely not. Rather,
Mari is the pilot of "Eva-05" (Eva-04 is the one that explodes later in the movie) and we don't quite know where her base is (It seems to be a joint Eurpean Union/Russian base)...."able to fight them off"? Even in the original, Eva-04 explodes because they were testing the unlimited energy generator with it, the S2 Organ.

This is all different; now Sachiel is the "Fourth Angel" but here we see Mari fighting the "Third Angel" which is a new, skeletal snake-like thing...that means its all a flashback to events "off screen" during the first movie.

I talk about Eva in my YouTube channel, "ReVolutionOfEva" (I run the Evangelion panels at Anime Boston)

Yeah I know

so unless it was all supposed to be a dream, she's still alive with a missing eye. It's eva, the same show where they killed off and brought back a main character 3 times, I'm sure they will find a way to explain it lol

Ahh my bad, I got the numbers all mixed up of the Evas. About the nationality thing, all I know is that everyone in the base was
speaking English as was the new pilot. One question I have is where do you see Eva-04 explode due to the S2 Organ in the new movie? I don 't remember that part. Not being a native speaker of Japanese probably doesn't help either

Saw this on the big screen in Tokyo. Fucking great movie.

I wish I was you  I wanted to see the first movie in one of the airings here in the US but for reasons I don't understand they aren't showing it in New York at all :scream:

Interesting. I'll take a look at some of your videos and double check you got everything right. :techman:

Seriously though, I'm interested in seeing if my views line up with someone's who has run panels about it.

EDIT: I wish these were subtitled, the mask muffles your voice a lot.

Just finished your "Explanation of Evangelion" panel video, aside from being hard to hear you... Awesome. Exactly what I was hoping to see. You are subscribed. Well done.
