Eva Green cast as female lead in Dark Shadows

Wasn't HBC already confirmed? Looks like they are casting a bit young. Is that just the sign of the times or do they expect to get sequels out of this? How can Carolyn drink if she's 15? I am pleased though, not going for talentless folks.

I am due to watch House of Dark Shadows on my dvr soon. I hope a real dvd release of the two films really is coming soon as well. Speaking of the houses, a few years ago we went to Sleepy Hollow and Lyndhurst Castle where the films were done. Have to find the pictures and post them.

At first my husband didn't know why I really wanted to go there, but when we got inside and were on the staircase, I whispered to him, 'They filmed Dark Shadows here!' A few other people in the group giggled, so I suspect they were there for the exact same reason.

Might be neat to read some of the permits and filming location informations when this really gets going, just to snoop and look up some of the spooky places they choose.

Isn't the Rhode Island main house abandoned or something? It was a school for awhile and now it is empty again? I know the Old House location burned down many years ago.

yeah, i'm not sure why it was announced recently that HBC was added to the cast when, as far as i know, filming is nearly over.

its been said that the two movies will get a proper DVD release in time for the new movie.

the Rhode Island house is abandoned. there is a clip of the Ghost Hunters ep on SYFY's site.

My girlfriend and I visited Lyndhurst years ago. It was funny; the poor tour guide kept wanting to talk about the actual history of the house and its inhabitants, but everyone kept asking her questions about DARK SHADOWS . . . .

"Please note the marble parquet flooring which was designed by So-and-So, the celebrated 19th century architect, who was the second cousin of the noted ambassador to Belgium. Any questions?"

"Yes, is the room where Barnabas bit Angelique?"

"Er, I'm not sure . . . ."

It was excruciating and hilarious at the same time.

Where are their capitalistic instincts? They should start Dark Shadows tours of the mansion. :rommie:

Damn, I slipped up. I usually keep track of what TCM shows overnight. Maybe they've put it up on On Demand.

Thanks for the info.

Oops. Okay. :rommie: It's definitely not on On Demand. I'll have to sign up for one of those email notification thingies.

Yeah it's shown on TCM from time to time. I taped it when I started doing my season sets and haven't gotten back to it. WAs it May? geez, I'm behind!

The Lyndhurst tour guide we had had a British accent, which was a little weird. They seem like a strict place with lots of places you can't go and take pictures of, so I think they try and act like they are more high scale than Dark Shadows, but I agree it is silly of them to ignore it.

It is a shame the other house has been disused and isn't part of the big Rhode Island estate tour stuff with all the Vanderbuilt and Rockefellar stuff. We saw some of their house in NY too. Totally ridiculous that people could live in such opulence!

I think the pictures are on my external drive, must hook it up and look.

Unfortunately, it looks like you can only do the email notification thing when the movie is actually on the schedule-- I'll just have to keep my eyes peeled.

Okay, one of the pictures. You weren't allowed to take any inside, so just lots of outside photos. Kind of big, beware when you load.

RJ, I thought you could send the request email to have it added to the schedule? I expect they'll have it on again in the coming months.

Anyone else catch "Ghost Hunters" last night? They toured Seaview Terrace, a mansion in Rhode Island that was apparently used as the exterior of Collinwood in the old tv series (as opposed to Lyndhurst which was used in the two theatrical films).

i watched it just to see 'Collinwood'. i don't care for Ghost Hunters much but it was nice to see Collinwood again. but what was up with those creepy faces on the ceiling?

Didn't watch it. I'm a little tired of a Ghost show being on every channel now, that is, inbetween the pawn shows. Sigh. Nothing good on tv anymore, best to stick with the classics.

I'm not a Commie. I just like America more the way it used to be. ;)
