Yes, it is that time of the year again..when songs ( good, bad, weird and wonderful) from 40 different countries will compete for victory of the ESC :):D
The Eurovision Song Contest 2022 is the 66th edition of the ESC and it is taking place in Turin, Italy.
The slogan for this year is "The Sound of Beauty".
With this years songs we: Wish hope with a Wild West sound, take a train trip, yell Jezebel, give a wolf a banana, sing about love & loss..and much more. I guess its fair to say there is something for everyone.

Short official recap of all the songs:

May the best song win!

What are some your favorite songs for this year?
What songs do you very much dislike?
Who do you think will win?

I’ll really try to stay awake for it this year. I say this every year and then I fall asleep. (I’m getting old. What can I say.)

I look forward to us ending up in either last or second to last place again tho.

The only dong I truly dislike that made the final is Moldova, although Serbia with the handwashing was so very strange. Perhaps I need to be drunk to fully appreciate it? Though odd performances and songs that are memorable are half the fun, like Norway's Give the Wolf a Banana.

I actually quite like the UK entry this year, Spaceman, for the first time in years. Sam Ryder is a likable bloke, with a great voice, and is very popular on Tik Tok. I'll try not to get carried away and would be happy with a few points. It's just nice we seem to have made more of an effort this year. ;)

Ukraine is an overwhelming favorite this year, and whilst the song is decent, it's not in my top 10. Obviously, the public vote is happening because of Russia, but I still don't see how that is supposed to make the Ukrainians feel better? At least the public lote is only 50% of the total.

Of the ones in the final, I love Italy, Poland, Greece, Estonia, the Czech Republic, the Netherlands Sweden, and Finland, with the UK in my top 10 as well.

The Rasmus for Finland performed really well today, even if the song isn't one of their best.

My favs: Italy, Poland, Australia, Portugal, Netherlands, Estonia, Sweden, Belgium... Hope I didn't forget anyone!

It would be great to get some points this year, Spaceman is a good song, Sam has a good voice and he isn't hamstrung by poor positioning. I'm hopeful of him not being bottom, maybe even not being in the bottom grouping. Sneaking onto the left-hand side of the board would be phenomenal but I might be hoping a little too much there!

Party round my friend's house later, we usually have one every year with everyone crammed in someone's living room.

I've really missed it, because of smelly Covid. Regardless of the winner, we'll have fun. After the UK kept entering the same old dodgy acts and/or songs for years and years, I've learned to like many songs, to avoid crushing disappointment.

That was bizarre, last time we came second was Imaani back in 98.

So happy for Sam, he sang well. I was surprised at Spain doing so well as well, something I liked when I first heard but wasn't sure how it would do.

It was good fun watching, shows how much i know as i really liked the German entry.

Pleased for Ukraine and did like their entry although I think the UK can see it as a success too as I think in any other year it would have won as the public would have voted differently.

I would expect unless things do change dramatically in Ukraine, and I hope they do, in the next 12 months, it seems likely that they would not be in a position to host the event so I think the UK should be given the option as runners up.

Of course we ended up in last place again, it’s like a badge of honor at this point

I wanted for Moldova to win, now THAT was a true Eurovision song, but I am also happy that the people of Europe made such a clear statement by giving the win to Ukraine.

I'm extremely happy with the result. Coming second seemed kind of right considering, and I did like Ukraine's entry. I wasn't alone - the UK voted for it too !

It shows that despite the 'everyone hates us' narrative our biggest problem has simply been repeatedly entering shit songs.

Plus I don't want this used as some excuse to rehabilitate the image of our ambulant turd of a Prime Minister on the international stage...

What a wonderful evening, thought Sam Ryder did us proud. A great artist and a great song and we did brilliantly! Who'd have thunked it!
