Eurovision Song Contest 2010

I can't believe we won. We're finally over the Nicole-Ralph Siegel-trauma. :D

ETA: And it even gets a 'breaking news' banner on Spiegel Online.

We won!! I never would have thought it possible!! My congratulations to Lena!
Her hometown Hannover is only about an hour away from where I live. So this literally hits very close to home...

even though I was soso on the song. :techman:

HOW did Germany win with THAT?! And HOW did the UK manage to give 12 points to GREECE? Both songs were awful!

(I preferred Belarus and Armenia.)

Well the German song was catchy...but as my g/f says, surely if it's been number 1 in Germany and playing throughout Europe for weeks that gives it something of an advantage?

We didn't deserve to be last. He was ok and the song wasn't that bad...but we didn't deserve better than mid table. We really need to get Cathy Dennis to write our entry next year.

There was some right shite that scored way more votes than us, and it always amazes me how the Balkan states vote for each other...I thought they hated each other!?

I'm surprised Ireland didn't do better, thought it was a good song and a v good singer.

I didnt think Lena sang all that great tonight, she was better in the video at least.

At least us in the UK didnt end up with 0 points but still we came last.

Still entertaining as usual and heres to some whacky songs next year...

I was certainly surprized by the result.
The song is ok, but I would not have thought that it can win. Anyway, happy for her. She seems like a nice and honest girl.

TerokNor

At least a country won who put money into the event won.
Not a suprise in many ways as the song had already topped the charts over much of Europe.
The UK song was a disgrace more than usual though it perhaps deserved to finish a little higher. It is always quite funny that we have produced some of the greatest bands of all time (solo artists too) yet we can't get it together to even challenge anymore. Anybody credible would never enter worrying they would damage their carea.
The German way of selecting their artist was better than ours, if a little more complicated.
The trouble is the whole thing is too camp and frankly a waste of time in terms of discovering new talent. A shame they did not let Morrisey enter when he wanted to.
I did quite enjoy Graham Norton making jokes about everything.

I have only one thing to say about Armenia : 1m95 is too tall for a woman :klingon:

It's not if the male is equal or slightly taller. Sometimes it's nice to not look down upon people but be with someone on equal eye level. The effect is rather mesmerizing.

I'm fairly sure that Germany will do great this year. Perhaps that will end the curse of the big 4.

I has mad prophetic skillz!

Anyway, I quite enjoyed it. Most of my other favorite songs were however in those mid-places. I'm one of those weird people who liked Russia's entry.

But I'm mostly happy with the end-results.

I also made a pity-vote for UK.
