Eureka - Why Should I be Caring About Pregger Sister?

Tulin

Eureka is a pretty thin show, as it is. Suddenly, late last season/half season(getting sick of these too), dimwit sheriff's pregnant sister turns up. Now, as the show has returned she is apparently a major part and this annoying sidestory with her on again/off again boyfriend is taking more and more screen time.

I just wonder why this has become so important. Has a demographic study or something been done that decreed not enough women between 25 and 49 are watching and we need more soapy elements?

Either way, it's annoying as hell and I wish she and her boring storyline would go away.

I am still watching the bowling/green skin ep from the other week so I don't know what has happened yet in the last episode. Upon writing my original post, I wondered if maybe this space story and the unborn twins story will somehow be melded?

Or maybe I shouldn't give the writers any ideas. Just what we need - more accelerated growing super smart space babies.

"Preh - tay - nah - mah!!!!"

Of course there isn't even a hint of her in this week's episode.

What about Kevin? We only had a glimpse of him in the first half of the season.

And there's Carter's other girlfriend that suddenly disappeared between season 2 and 3.

One character I am glad is gone is the crocodile hunter guy played by Max Headroom(younger kids look it up).

His accent was just THE MOST FUCKING GODAWFUL approximation of an Australian accent. Besides the whole wanky "crocodile hunter" personna, if a real Aussie heard another Aussie talk like that, they'd probably tell them to fuck off.

That was just painful to hear, so I am VERY glad he went the way of the Tasmanian Tiger!!!

Well he is coming back. He is in one of the previews.

Also I was disappointed by what the signal was. I was hoping for a Bozeman, Montana-ish scene.

100% agree! The sister is pointless and annoying, whenever she is not on the screen I consider it a victory!

While I wouldn't say she's grown on me, I have learned to tolerate her. I think the idea is the Sheriff needs someone there to be an antagonist towards him, and who antagonises better than a sibling? Still I understand what you mean... Besides
Didn't she leave in the last ep? Or did she just move out of the smart house?

She annoyed the hell out of me on Commander in Chief. She was the worst thing on possibly the worst show ever made but still some how she gets work?

Poor girl.

Holy shit.

I don't know what's more insane, that she's the daughter of lewis from Revenge of the Nerds of her UNcle is Kieth caradine from Kill Bill... I mean if the Baldwin's or Voight and what escaped from his penis are Hollywood Royalty, then these guys are the Hollywood Illuminati, secret overmasters commanding the punters with the strength of their similar blood.

Meh?

Wow I feel kinda left out for not hating her.

On the other hand it seem she's now gone, and it doesn't bother me that she is.

All in all I'm glad the show's back. Always enjoy it.

I liked the sister, better than the new girl they brought in who is a expert on aliens of something like that. She's to good looking to be taken seriously as a scientist. Scientist are supose to be old or nerdy looking.

I don't care about the sister. But I do like the writing. It's improved tremendously this "season" (is it a new season, or half-seaosn?) ... The last half-season got progressively worse, and the product placement sillier and sillier. The "Degree deodorant saves the day!" episode was the one I hated the most. After that season or half-season ended, I wasn't sure if I even wanted to continue watching the show.

Now that they're done with that annoying BS, it's gotten better.

One thing, though. Early on, there was some sort of controversy with the man who is now the mayor .. whatever his name is, can't remember. He went back in time, or another universe or something silly like that, and I think killed his wife? I don't remember. Anyway, killed somebody and then everyone forgot all about it and they were best friends again.

His name is Henry. He blamed Carter for his wife's death because he prevented him from going back in time to change the past. I forget why, but for awhile Carter fro mthe future also went back in time and had his future memories, but then had them erased by Henry.

I thought the first half the season was better. The product placemnt stuff was lame but I miss Clint Eastwood's wife being on the show. Plus I just can't get into this alien arc so far. Also disapointed they didn't do more with Carter being fired as Sherrif.

I liked the sister just fine, and hope that she's not done. In the dramatic structure, I think her purpose was to be a different contrast to Carter's levelheadedness. On the one hand all the Big Brains and on the other the New Age Hippie Chick-- and, in the middle, Carter's sardonic pragmatism.

At the least, they just need to be careful how they frame scenes with both her and Allison. Either one alone, I can accept. Even together in a frame when they're doing something, they still aren't a problem. But in one of the last two episodes, they had one of those ominous "dum dum DUM" sort of scene closers with just the two of them standing toward the camera looking all dolled up, and it was enough to break my suspension of disbelief. Which is really saying something, since I'm pretty delusional.

I agree. She is kind of annoying...but she's also really funny. I wouldn't want her to dominate the show or anything, but I like her. I'm surprised so many people dislike her, to be honest.

I liked the sister too. The more people Carter interacts with the better. The touch of sibling rivalry was enough for spice without being unpleasant. And it gave Alison someone to talk with, instead of just infodumping or plot forwarding. And she was someone else to interact with Sarah, who is one of my favorite characters. The new girl is as tiresome as Zane, who is a symptom of how Lupo is going down the drain. The show needs more adult women! (More than Zoe, anyhow.)

Except, by the indications of last episode, they're not. The parts with Lupo and Fargo were just a big Subaru commercial. Which reminds me, for some odd reason, I feel motivated to go out and buy a Subaru.
