Eric Bana cast as new villain! Potential spoilers....

Obviously Nero is in fact a clone of Kirk, with his name been a play on how he is the "son" of James Tiberius Kirk. Also Nero was created by the Romulans as part of a plan to replace the real Kirk in Starfleet and bring down the Federation from the inside.

Obviously something goes wrong and Nero end up loose and wanting to kill his "father" because he is evil for no good reason.

Obviously.

Man Vektor, you're scaring me there...Scaring me because I think just you may be right... Actually that could make for a quite interesting plot...

I'm looking forward to reading more about this

Actually, the only Roman historian alive at the time of the Great Fire who wrote about it tells an entirely different story - that Nero was elsewhere at the time and rushed back to Rome to organize and pay for the relief effort. The "Nero fiddled while Rome burned" is an apparent invention of later writers.

Bravo!

My only beef with Crowe playing the villian is that people might haave seen Crowe on screen and not the character. I know that sounds kinda dumb, but oh well.
You are totally right. I watched "A Good Year" a few months back and it was a disaster of a movie, not only because it was bad, but because you could never see Crowe as a loveable Hugh Grant type Brit.

Granted he'd make a better Villian but I don't want his status to overshadow the film, I'd rather read about the new star trek film in the media then about his tantrums. I couldn't see him accepting the part anyway.

I now know why he was chosen for the part.

I couldn't see him taking it also. I have nothing against Crowe at all, but I am really, really happy about Bana being the villian. He is such an awesome actor, and he is going to be a great addition to the Star Trek universe
