I thought it was a very classy way to bring them back to the show. Beautifully done.
Had me tearing up. "The kidney went to some doctor." damn that was perfect on so many levels. The sort of subtle touch this show excelled at.
Carol knows the heart went to some little girl's mother, but didn't catch the name of the doctor that got the kidney?
Wow, it was definitely weird seeing Clooney in the hospital scrubs again! It was cool of him to do it though (being the mega-movie star he now is), and makes me an even bigger fan than I already was.

I wonder if his repeated refusals to do it at the beginning of the season were genuine or not. Noah Wyle told TVGuide he was talking to him trying to get him to return. Eriq LaSalle returned because I believe he directed the episode (or is set to direct one of them).
I watched it and I have to say that the best part was seeing the older characters from previous ER Generations. Doug, Carol, and Benton were good choices for tonight's episode and I was impressed that they kept it true to form. I was expecting half way through for Carol to find out that the Kidney would go to Carter and try to talk the woman into it, but they kept it real by not letting her find out who the person receiving it was.

I liked the scene where Ross was going back and forth with the new kids about who they knew from Chicago. Just shows how long this show's been on the air and how much turnover they had.

Well I don't doubt that he had to be talked into it. He's made it pretty clear before that he wasn't fond of the soap opera direction they took the show in (which is the same reason I stopped watching). Plus I imagine he's got a pretty full schedule of his own now.
I was surprised how well he slipped back into the character though. There was a lot less of the shy, looking-at-the-ground thing he used to always do, but it still felt like I was watching the old Doug Ross.

I think that's it for Clooney and Margulies but Wyle, LaSalle, Sherry Stringfield, and Laura Innes are all slated to appear for the finale. They had some production pictures up on spoilertv.com I think.
Clooney has always been quite open about what his career owes to ER. He's always quick to give other people credit for his successes.
Great episode. I'm SO glad they didn't make the final name connection between Carter and Ross & Hathaway.
