Interesting if this will be another episode where we don't see much of Pike. Something about the setup reminds me of something we'd get in VOY or ENT..just has a familiar Trek feeling to it like this week's episode did.
I was dreading that guy too, but I'm ok with it in this context. Would be funny if every appearance of his on this show ends up being from an alternate timeline.

I think it's just a couple kids wanting to keep pushing their opinion that they don't like Paul Wesley as Kirk.
"Wesley Sucks!" shirts are now back in vogue.

He seems to have 29th century tcars and might be from a Wells or Aeon type ship, which would be amazing to see again.

Wesley was jarring in the SNW finale, Kirk INO.
However, if he takes on more Captain Kirk mannerisms and personality traits here, it might be acceptable enough. Especially when they travel back in time, there's a great opportunity for him to show some range and charm.
Keeping in mind Pike, Spock, Chapel and Uhura also act drastically different than their TOS counterparts.

Pike: was depressed and not acting himself, by others admission.
Spock: was more emotional.
Chapel: had not lost her fiancé out in the black.
Uhura: was a more seasoned officer.
Yup, can't imagine why anyone would act differently than what we saw. The mind is a mysterious playground...
Yeah no. Hunter's Pike even in the final scenes of The Cage still was short-tempered with Colt, and was cold with his crew, almost demeaning them "What are we running here, a Cadet ship!?" That wasn't Anson's boyscout take on Pike.
That was Gene giving us a character based on his military experience, you'll see a lot of that in "The Lieutenant"

Suffice it to say, if Wesley plays a different take on Kirk than the extroverted, exuberant and high-energy Shatner performance, it wouldn't be out of the norm for SNW.

I love this idea that trauma is dealt with by the end of an episode. Pike wasn't himself. That's in the text.
True and right inside my expectations for characters to not behave exactly the same as before due to being at different stages of life.
You know, like those damn people do all the time in real life. Stupid people and their stupid stupidness.
