A solid 8 on the Star Trek richter scale. Not a perfect episode, but the qualms aren't terrible.

A flashback I just had: When I was a kid I could barely watch it because I thought they were going bloodily cleave each other in two with swords.

I gave it a 7. I liked this episode. One part that I like is the scene on the bridge when Scotty wants to kill all the Klingons and Kirk went into his speech about how they were taught to think in other ways besides war and ideology. And then goes over to Spock, who also lost it for a bit when he said he didn't care for serving with Humans, and Kirk bring up race hatred. (It hurt Kirk personally because it went against everything he believed in. ie, exploring space and contacting new life)

Loved Scotty blurting out "Freak!"
And Susan Howard, who played Marta, went on the play Donna Krebs on "Dallas".

I'd say a 7. A solid episode but not a great one. Easily one of the best of the third season - but that's not saying much.

I want to know how they made the alien "pinwheel". It was a neat effect and it kind of resembled the lighting effect of the nacelle domes.

McCoy too was affected with his speech about The Klingons! Scotty and Spock coming to blows almost and Kirk trying to intercede nearly got a wallop from Spock too! Great scene where Kirk tries to convince Kang of the futility of fighting and you can see The Klingon commander trying to think through his words but you think the alien entity is just too strong, but then...

Fantastic episode, easily my favorite of the season and one of my go-to episodes of the run. Really good message of peace while being action packed and well acted for the most part. Some of the teaser was used in promotional ads on my local station in the 70's. Shatner does good swordplay.

"Captain's Log, stardate...Armageddon."

When I was a preteen, I thought this episode was schlock. Now I think it's pretty good. The opening part on the planet is powerful, as are the Chekov-Mara scene and the Kirk-Kang climactic debate. Eight.

Morgan Woodward and William Windom were also on Dallas..not to derail the thread..

Dallas had so many great guest stars/recurring guest stars.... a number of whom appeared on Star Trek or later on TNG. Maybe someone will be kind enough to compile a list (I'm too lazy to do that).

YES, kindly and benevolent moderators... I know this is not a Dallas board and I beg your forgiveness!

Not my favorite episode of the third season, but a decent, solid one. Michael Ansara was always a welcome addition to any show he appeared in, and this was no exception. Great claustrophobic feeling in the ship as the proceedings wore on.

I'm well familiar with his appearances in THE OUTER LIMITS and the work he did for Irwin Allen. Good stuff all.
