Enterprise viewscreen size changes

The size of the viewer screen has changed over the years even between episodes.

On TOS 'old fesarius' it's ratio was exactly: 1.75:1

on The TOS 'Balance of Terror' it was exactly: 1.66:1

Phase II concept design drawing approximately 2.35:1

TNG ENT-D approximately 2.2:1

'Generations' film ENT-E approximately 2.2:1

STXI approximately 3:1

Does anyone have any information as to why the changes were between the older episodes and also in the newer viewscreen designs?
Of course with the feature films most of the feature's were framed in 2.35:1 ratio.

Well, the Ent-E had a 'holographic' viewscreen that appeared as a blank wall when not enabled, so its size is malleable to say the least.

Can't speak for the others.

The E-E had a holoscreen in "First Contact" but not the later two movies.

I don't know why, but when I first saw that I just thought that would really annoy me.

There must be some level of comfort in having that 'window' there. Looking ahead of you instead of being at Ops, doing a mundane job and having a wall to look at.
