Enterprise theme music on youtube...awful

Archer's Theme will probably always be considered the secondary theme for the show anyways.

I just saw the up-tempo version of the theme for the first time in years. I still prefer the original mix, but it's better than I recall. I remembered some crazy bongo-blast that was jarring. It must have been a reaction based on hearing something so different from what I was expecting. My ear emphasized the differences.

I agree. While I'm one of those who think the real theme is just fine, when I start thinking about "Enterprise music", Archer's theme starts playing in my head.

It, however, would have needed a remix. I dislike how it plays in all the fan opening videos. Scott Bakula also would have needed to record a more powerful rendition of the opening speech. The version everyone uses sounds like he's reading poetry, which just doesn't work in an opening video context, in my opinion.

Hated the original theme song, Hated the upbeat version. It just failed on so many levels. No majesty, no vision, no strength. This was the first crew heading deep into space and we get a wishy washy song like that? It was a song reflective of the time the show was written and will date it horribly. Should have gone with a nice original, powerful, fast moving orchestral score. Something that got you ready for the excitment, danger, and wonder of the unknown.

Well, to be fair a lot of people nowadays think the original TOS score sounds too much like "a 1960s beauty pageant theme" or something along those lines. I've heard more than a few very disparaging comments over time about how dated TOS music is in the modern era.

I Accidentally Just Listened to...

The first couple of seconds of the the theme music.

My blood almost curdled. If I'd have had lactating mammary glands, surely they would have curdled. I can't imagine the pain!

Every time skiffy airs this theme music, it is an insult to all of us who love Star Trek.

Re: I Accidentally Just Listened to...

This is for you Master of T. Hill:

It’s been a long road - getting from there to here.
It’s been a long time, but my time is finally near

And I will see my dream come alive at last. I will touch the sky.
And they’re not gonna hold me down no more
No, they’re not gonna change my mind
Cause I got faith of the heart
I’m going where my heart will take me
I got faith to believe I can do anything.
I got strength of the soul and no one’s gonna bend or break me
I can reach any star. I got faith. Faith of the heart.

Re: I Accidentally Just Listened to...

It would have been.....ok as a theme song if everyone in the known galaxy didn't know that it was ripped off Patch Adams.

Re: I Accidentally Just Listened to...

If by "ripped off" he means they used the same song.

Re: I Accidentally Just Listened to...

I didn't know that. Honestly.

The problems I have with it...
It's not an upbeat, fast song.
It goes on too long. The opening theme should be quick so we can get back to the story.
While not a bad song, it is not a song I want to hear over and over.

It could be worse. I'm going through my TNG set and you cannot skip over the song in that collection. (The newer, cheap single box collection.) If you do you also skip over part of the episode as they did not put the opening credits song in a chapter by itself. On my ENT DVD's a simple push of the skip button fixes the problem.

Re: I Accidentally Just Listened to...

Other than the ones from TOS amd ENT the show themes are long, ponderous pseudo-classical snore fests.

Well, to be fair VOYAGER's theme kicked ass even when the show itself sucked.

Yes that's what I meant. I was exaggerating about "everyone" knowing, but most people wether Trekkies or just the general public went to see Patch Adams. So using a popular song from a popular movie for *your* show is probably not going to be a good idea.

Worst of all is that the show didn't even come close to meeting the theme of the song.

I guess i'm in the minority. Didnt see the movie, never heard the song before ENT. The song seems to capture the idea of the show. Getting out from under Vulcans protective wing and going out on your own.
