Scott Bakula also would have needed to record a more powerful rendition of the opening speech. The version everyone uses sounds like he's reading poetry, which just doesn't work in an opening video context, in my opinion.

It fits very well with his usual speech pattern, though. There's a certain unevenness to what length the words are given, which was also characteristic for Archer. I kind of like it.

Everyone thinks they have better ideas on how the theme should have been executed for Enterprise, but I just spent 10 awful minutes listening to alternate versions on youtube that were excruciating! I'm so glad fans were not allowed to pick the theme.

I had no trouble with what they had. I understood the concept. However, I liked the faster season 3 & 4 version better.

I agree as well.

The Rod Stewart version from 1988 and PATCH ADAMS a decade later would never have sounded right. Plus, Rod would have wanted way too much money to have his voice be heard every week on a big-budget TV drama.
