Enterprise-TAS

Anyone think this could be done?

TAS came after TOS was cut short and they were able to continue
telling the stories in the cheaper more flexible format of animation.

With some of the cool animation styles we have these days this could
be a great success, even if a DVD only release.

Thoughts?

The potential for fantastic animated Trek has never been better. Besides having so much choice in animation style we are now in an age when animation is held in high regard. Not like the TAS era when they were "cartoons". A lot of TAS is pretty good due to great scripts and true to character writing, and of course the original voices. Add fantastic animation to that and you would have a real winner.

YES this is a great idea. If we could have quality scripts, wow! As long as we didn't have marionette heads ala Clone Wars (and no I haven't actually seen CW yet, just an instinctive dislike to the style).

So.. "could be done". Yeah. Would be? Trek needs some Animation leader who charts a market etc.. for Trek animation. If that happened it seems unlikely they would choose ENT though. Don't you think they would just churn out some more TNG because of a broader appeal? How successful is Clone Wars, that could be a real impetus for Trek animation!

I would love to see ENT in animation.

I'd love to see this done if it were taken seriously - possibly even more seriously than seasons 1-3 of the live action Enterprise. ;) But my fear is that those in charge of any such project would take the fact that it is animated as license to be silly and inconsistent, like they seem to have with some of TAS, and with The Clone Wars cartoon now. (Although I have to say, TCW the TV series is certainly a lot better about it than the animated feature film they kicked it off with.)

I'd want to see Genndy Tartakovsky's Star Wars: Clone Wars microseries levels of seriousness.

Ensign Redshirt appears to be correct, though - if an animated series does happen, it seems much more likely to be a follow-on to the upcoming movie, or about Titan.

I think ENT has the most potential for it however.

TNG ran through so many years and movies already, TOS is back on
the big screen and both the other series got their 7 years. ENT I think
would be the most deserving of this and would be the most fun to watch.

I would be a huge fan of Enterprise making it back in ANY form really. I would have been a big fan of some direct-to-DVD movies in a manner similar to the Stargate DVD's that came out (Ark of Truth, etc).

A CGI-animated series would rock, no question about it.

Actually, I think that classic 2D animation would fit better, drawn in some comic-book / Japanese anime-ish style.
