Enterprise Security Chief?

Crewman47

Commodore
Newbie
If you were the Chief of Security would you have started to question Kirks command decisions or at least put a report through to Starfleet Command regarding any negligence he may have had when dealing with hostile or suspected hostile situations? I mean in these situations Kirk would almost always go on Away missions himself with only with his 1st officer and Chief Surgeon and the occasional Security Ensign who almost always winds up not returning from the mission.

I think if I was Security Chief I'd feel I'd have to question him on proper Away Team protocol and remind him that the ship has a Security division for a reason.

So what you do if you were Security Chief?

1) TOS didn't have Away Teams. It had Landing Parties.

2) Considering how many times Kirk and his senior officers beamed down as a first contact group, it must be standard Starfleet procedure. :)

I think in that era of Trek the protocol of restricting the Captain of a starship from landing parties didn't exist as it did in TNG.
I personally think that protocol was just the First Officer being overly protective!

If I were in ANY of the Red-Shirt departments I would keep my mouth shut, my head down, and hope that I never ever heard the phrase "Report to the Transporter Room" directed at me.
